NEW grower NEED HELP with EBB FLOW system!

okay so i purchased a flood and drain 14 gallon system that are two buckets sitting on top of each oither. so it fills up the top of growing medium then slowly drains.. MY question is how many times am i suppose to let my timer switch to flood during a whole day i will be filling the top of my medium with hydro clay or groton ??? PLEASE help my fellow RIU member please...kiss-ass

how many plants? using nutes? what kind of lights?

thats the problem its a 14c gallon bucket medium i want to know how many plants can i fit in the flood and drain and how many times i am suppose oto flood my new system and for how long????? please RIU HELP ME!!!!!!!!

what are the dimensions of the bucket...with my ebb and flow system I would flood it 7 times a day for 15 minutes each time...i started with six added one more and didnt see any problems with it. I converted my ebb and flow system to a bubbleponic system so I dont have to worry about the flood problem anymore. I was also running 24/0 ratio light:darkness. if you were to do 18/6 id do 4-5 floods a day. Remember that you dont need to flood it during the darkness cycle, only during the light cycle. and that within an hour of the light cycle starting it's going to need a watering.

but if you gimme the dimensions I'll give you an estimate of how many plants to put. Also look into Sea of Green technique, or SOG technique. This is a technique of putting many plants in a small area and with research you could prolly figure how many to put in there yourself.

im not sure the dimension but its on its way im pretty sure that you have seen the smalle blue tubs at walmart dollar store lots of places , they got the snap part on the top used for storing stuff look.......

okay so you see that blue tub its bigger than that ... the one you see is 10 gallon the one im getting is two 14 gallon resivoirs on top of each other .... i want to fill with hydroclay!!!!!!! hope that helps a little thanks for your help...

it doesent sound like an ebb & flow system, an ebb & flow would have a res (one 14 gal tank/Rubbermaid bin for water/nutes) and a table (plant pot with medium to support plant structure) i guess you could fill up the 14 gal table with hydroton but it wouldnt be so practical.. it would be very very heavy. i would advise buying a seperate table if this is the case.. or turn it into an aeroponic system..

yeah thats the system, but bigger that one is a ten gallon im gettin a 14 gallon resivoir so just a nich bigger bud but thats it let me know what i can do with that wat ya think??????????

ok you could just fill the top one with hydroton up to the drain pipe and you should be set. but to be honest, you could have built that exact system for about 30 bucks.
