New room idea. Opinions ? 20' x 16'

So I was thinking about sealing up the wood walls in my garage with liquid rubber. Install insulation then put a plastic barrier on top of that and then drywall, tape and mud. And then install mylar on the walls using wallpaper adhesive..& paint the floor flat white. so anyway I have been kinda planning this build for a while now and looking for opinions. Reason for wanting to use garage is ceiling height. Farthest out is 8' high and goes up to about 20' in the middle peak so I could fill her with monsters or pack it full with smaller girls SOG style..

------Equipment------

2x Air-Con 18k BTU / 23 SEER mini splits

155 PPD Dehumidifier

8x 16" Wall mount fans (2x per wall)

4x 8" A/c infinity inline fans w/ 4x 8" ac infinity carbon filters ( One per Corner \ air scrub) and run air ducting up into the drywalled ceiling and have the air flow back down into the room blowing down on plants / lights using duct grilles.

4-6 Burner CO2 generator w/ CO2 controller

Lights are something I can't decide on quiet yet. Obviously we all want top notch LEDs and I was eventually going to fork out tons of money and get maybe 8x 800 watt mars hydro's with the samsung diodes. At $800 a pop. That's $6400 plus tax. I will end up grabbing but how would let's say 12x 600 watt HPS lights do ?? Or what about 12x 615w CMH lights ? I been wanting to see what all the fuss is about on the CMHs. I hear 315s are equivalent to 1000w HPS?

LET ME KNOW HOW THIS SOUNDS.. THANKS

Oh and I also planned on maybe running coco one run because that's what I'm use to but I also been planning a DIY RDWC system.. POSSIBLY a 72 - 96x site system using 5 gallon square buckets with one or two 1 1/2 HP water chillers.

Don't think wallpaper paste will hold mylar when you've got a humid environment.
You'd probably end up with a great environment for mould.

I'd go with a fully cleanable white matt paint on walls and a floor paint on floor

A 315w CMH is equal to a 315w CHM. In no way even close is it equal to a 1000w HID. Its not even as good as a 400w Hortilux HPS. A 315w CMH is 671umol, and a 400w Hortilux HPS is 713umol.

A 1000w Hortilux HPS is the top of the line of SE HID. About 1642umol. It is good for a 4 x 4 area. At that rate, and 20 x 16 you would need 15 x 1000w Hortilux HPS. 5 of them to cover 20 feet, and 3 of them to cover 16 feet. I say 3 because the ones covering 16 feet, the ones in the corners will do double duty.
600w Hortilux will cover a 3 x 3 area. At that rate you would need about 7 of them to cover the 20 foot area, and 4 of them to cover the 15 foot area which is 28 600w Hortilux HPS.

This is a massive endeavor.
1. For walls, how about, spray foam, osb, puck board.
2. 3 tons seams light for a sealed room with that many lights.
3. Based on my experience I think you would require 500-600 ppd of dehumidification.

Eye Hortilux Calculator says for 15,000w you need a 5 ton unit.

Please enter the single lamp wattage and the number of lamps.

I would skip the drywall and mud. I'd put a layer of poly to cover the wood. Then cover the walls with 1/8" PVC panels ($30/piece 4x8 sheet around here). Silicone the córners/edges and off you go.

I used cement board for the bottom 3ft of my walls. But I did dry wall and mud. And kind of realize it was a big time and money suck and of little benefit to growing.

Those ACs will be enough basically just for the 8 lights unless you go with ~640W LEDs. Otherwise all the fans and CO2 burner will def push you over what your ACs can do.

for a room that size you are gonna need to run like 10+ fans all running 100-150W each.

your BTUs in the room will be something like thus

lights
8X1100x3.41= 30,008 BTU

Wall Fans
10x 150W x 3.41 = 5115 BTU

8" Scrubber fans
4x190w x 3.41 = 2591 BTU

dehumidifer
1 x 920W x 3.41= 3137 BTU

4 Burner CO2 generator = 9000 BTU

total = 49,850 BTU

so the other members recommendation to go with a 5 Ton unit seems to be right on the money. You might only be dropping $2K on lights for the HID setup. But you will spend another 2-3K on AC able to manage the heat load.

if spend the money upfront on LEDs then your AC will be OK. And you can skip the CO2 burner in favour of bottles.

that would get your room down to 28K-30K BTU.

Its a good point to remember that while hid likes sub 80F temps leds (at high intensity) likes 81-84F. So trading hps for leds will make it easier on your ac.
This means its kinda hard to work with hps and led in the same space. Cmh however has much less IR and you can use it nicely with leds.

My advice is to build the space and start small and then expand. Big spaces like this are harder to grow in and really needs good machinery, especially for environment

Spray foam insulation, and purple sheetrock for humid/wet climates. Kilz white primer and Kilz white paint. No need for mylar.

LED lights. PERIOD. The End!!!

I think that I would build a smaller 12 x 12 x 10' room inside the garage. You'll need a lot fewer lights, CO2 and HVAC, a dehumidifier, etc...

Co2 supplementation is stupid and harmful imo. You can probably do just as well with enough air exchange. To quote Hank Hill in regards to climate change “if it gets one degree hotter I’m gonna kick your ass” also it’d save you a bunch of capital and running costs either way you need about 10Kw light and 40Kbtu cooling. Hope your electric can handle it cause that’s a lot especially if you’re residential. Ain’t knocking ya I wish you the best of luck in this, hell owning a boutique commercial grow house is literally my end goal, I fuckin love weed so much.
