I am not sure how to diagnose my plant issues. These plants are exactly 15 days from seed germination and being planted into their pods. I am only using Dyna Gro Grow in my one gallon reservoir. I had several brown spots on the biggest plant prior to starting nutes a three days ago. The smallest plant(which was actually started a day later than the others) has started to develop a few spots as well as yellowing on the tips of the older leaves. The third plant to the left has always looked the healthiest and has no issues so far. The biggest has curled bottom leaves, spots, and the older leaves seem a little dry. Growth of all seems fine. I have them on a 20/4 cycle. Could misting help the biggest plant? Please help me with some opinions on my plants.

BTW, I am using pHydrion sticks. There is a small 1/4" portion of the stick that turns a little green(hard to see in pic) compared to the rest of the stick. Should I only be concerned with the majority of the stick when reading ph? Sometimes I have seen a greenish spot mixed in with the yellow and also see greenish color along the edges but it will read vast majority as yellow indicating a good ph of around 5.5-6.

so many problems where to start?
get a real ph meter, drops and that paper thing are worthless, get digital to be dead on accurate. plants that young shouldnt be fed anything but ph'd water. chances are that your ppm's are too high, what are your ppm's at? do you have a ppm meter?

Can you suggest a decent ph meter for under $25? I can't afford to spend $50+ on one. I have always read that two weeks is a good time to start nutes so that's what I did. Is a ppm meter the same as a tds meter? I guess I need a suggestion on a decent one for the lowest price on that, also.

Are the sticks really that bad? I tried one with my own saliva and it turned green and showed about an eight. They seem close enough, never turning truly green as if there is a ph problem any higher than 6-6.5.

So what does it look like the problem(s) , if there truly is a real problem, could be?

Yes, there is truly a problem. It's called nutrient burn.

Get a handle on your ph and ppm readings.

The largest plant was curling and developing spots prior to nutes. Ph seems fine. Could I likely could have used a little too much Dyna Gro, though. I might change the water out and add only an 1/8 teaspoon of fert instead of 1/4... should I used a gallon of distilled or RO water? I have been using a PUR 2-stage water filter pitcher to cleanse the water as much as possible.

Can anyone address the other questions I had in my earlier post?

What is PUR 2-stage? Is that a true reverse osmosis filter?

Now you're sure you started developing those brown spots prior to nute introduction?

If that's the case then there's something in your water your plants don't like.

man i agree with jesus them colour ph strips r bollox for this game, when u need ur ph to be very accurate then these r not the way to go, dont get me wrong i started of using one, then when i replaced the strips for a cheap ten pound job off ebay the readings i got off this i compared to the strip colour and it was way off when all along i did it to a piss yellow my ph pen sed that was 5.5 now i grow in soil so u can see 5.5 is no good for me so getting even a cheap ebay ph pen is going to get u in the ball park, but they are hard to callibrate with a tiny screwdriver and even tinyer screw so if u av money for a self callibrating digital one u will be a happy man !

this way u can rule out ph being ur problem when trying to diagnose ! so by using strips first thing peeps will think is ur ph is out of wack !

I hear you, the strips are just what I could get locally at the moment. I guess I may have to look into a pen or something. Can anyone please give a suggestion on a decent ph meter and ppm meter that will get me close enough and not cost more than $25 each if that's possible?

What could be the cause of the dryness to the leaves on the biggest plant? Is that also ph related?

Can someone address my questions about the water I was using(PUR is a filter like Brita) and whether or not is would be fine as opposed to using either distilled or RO water?
