When I dry I usually like the temperature to be cool since fast drying removes the flavor from the buds, the slower the dry the better the flavor in my opinion. I also make sure there is proper airflow to prevent mold. You can achieve this with a small fan in your drying area, just make sure it is not blowing directly on your buds. I also prefer to hang the plants upside down while drying as it preserves their shape. On that note, I leave the leaves on when drying as I find them to help hold the flavour in. Your buds are dry enough when their stems snap easily.

As for curing, I do my final manicure then place the buds in a canning jar or some 420 jars and leave them closed for at least 8 hours. I then open the jars to allow the moisture escape if there is any. I repeat this process until I am sure it won't grow mold while in storage. Properly cured buds will snap when broken in half, burn evenly with a nice red ember, taste is void of chlorophyll (grassy taste), and smoke is smooth on the throat.

Granted, some strains have thicker smoke which makes you cough, such as Strawberry Cough. This is a characteristic of the strain, not improper curing. Also not properly flushing affects this as well.

Hope this helps

Curing depends on individual taste. Some say longer is better but the masters like subcool say 1 month is enough. My indoor after a month smells so much more developed and intense. My outdoor is the same depending on strain.

Did you feed it a lot or flush the plant before harvest? Also, what strain is it and how does it feel? I'm just curious. And what color is the ash when you burn it? That can tell you if it had too much salt residue from fertilizing which can make your throat hurt.

A proper cure can take 2 to 6 months. There is a method of so called quick curing. This starts the same as was described before except the burping process is continued for about 2 weeks. I personally still think it leaves a little bit of that chlorophyll taste. After burping i place mine in a brown paper bag and leave it in my humidor for about 2 1/2 months. Admittly I have a hughe humidor, but any nice dark cool well ventilated area will do. Mason Jars work great as well, I'm just old school with the paper bags. Most important thing is the area where u store is Dark and Cool. Good Luck and Happy Smoking :bigjoint::bigjoint:

Have been growing the Green House Trainwreck, and I agree it is a disappointment. Severe fox tailing in both genos, it's an ugly bud. Stoney as hell. Started them to dial in my room. Gonna kill off the really bad fox tailing geno, and try something else. Have a Big Bud reg and NL fem, don't know which to go with.
