Your ONE of the many growers that the OP should listen to, especially since you have outfitted your grow with modern equipment over the last couple years, and know what it costs to be a successful grower in that type of space.

Man, people just don’t realize how much it costs to get into this biz. Even if you’re an experienced grower, it still costs a shit ton to get up and running. Hell, I might be low at 1/2 Million.

Well first thing with 2000 SqFt is to be legal.
Then there is all the building codes and regulations that go with it.
There would be a huge cost in setting up this size facility.
As someone with industrial electrical experience, the wiring alone will take a lot of man hours and it has to be approved by your County.

Ventilation is necessary not only to keep any nuisance issues at bay but to ensure the quality of your C02 levels in such a large space. Also pest control.

Say, you must have some sort of blueprint or plan. Have you had anyone do a plan for you?

I liked your 2000 SqFt as I have a Shop that is 1200 SqFt and had a good daydream for a minute about that being a Grow Site.

Yeah, something this huge for you and just starting out well you are going to pay through the nose to get things done for you.

I hope you forget the monkeys and update us on how it goes. It's not everyday someone posts they are doing a startup of 2000 SqFt.

Starting this thread was a bad idea to try getting a commercial op running. Reading responses to a thread is not research.
You said "Nothing wrong with doing your due diligence and asking people that should be able to offer advice on an area they should be familiar with." but walk into a lawyers office & ask them how to be a lawyer. I'm sure they will offer a free consultation on how they studied & passed their exams. The odds of getting that much free info from a lawyer... pfff
This goes with any profession.. unless you're looking to be a stripper. Their initial consultation is usually cheaper.

When someone with absolutely no experience thinks they can successfully jump directly into the deep end of any industry, they make a mockery of people who started at the bottom, learned their craft, and legitimately earned a place in that world.

I am considering starting a micro grow in Canada. For me it has been a life long dream. 2000sq.ft. is pretty close to the 200m² limit for micro grows in Canada. So I am assuming you are in Canada. I have been reading through Health Canada's regulations (multiple times) and it scares the hell out of me......and I know cannabis and what is required to grow it on a large scale.

I have grown commercial in the past and with what I know from my experience and what I am required to do to satisfy Health Canada's current requirements for a micro grow as well as local municipal bylaws, local police and fire requirements, licencing and start up costs including equipment, building, genetics and operating expenses such as power, rent, wages, security, insurance, marketing, packaging....... I am looking at $750k to a cool million to start up what I and Health Canada would consider a viable micro grow in Canada. And yes if Health Canada thinks you will fail they will not license you.

All that said if you are coming to an online forum for suggestions for equipment or growing ideas, you're already screwed and well on the way to certain failure. Sorry but those are the facts.

I kinda feel like an ass for being so blunt even though I was being truthful.

If you are serious you will need to get a master grower, security person and a quality assurance person. These people are mandatory and will have to get security clearance from Health Canada. This will include them submitting their credentials such as experience, resumes and education to Health Canada. If they do not satisfy Health Canada, they will not get the security clearance. At the same time you will need to build your facility because the facility has to be fully built minus the lighting as part of the application process. Then you can start the 125 to 200 page application and make the site video and site layout map for your application. But it's not just a single application either. You will need to decide what you are going to do in your facility. If you want to grow, process/make extracts or sell to medicinal patients, those all require individual applications. Once this has all been done and your application has been approved, you can start growing. Every plant grown and every bud harvested will need to be tracked. Everything that goes into growing them such an nutrients, pesticides and plant health issues, equipment cleaning schedules and harvests will also need to be tracked.

This is a very rudimentary explanation of what is required before you even start growing and I know there is lots I missed but it gives you a very simplified idea of what you are looking at before you plant your first seed.

Everybody is different.

Friend could be seeing most of us as hard-core growers of the "Jar-Head Clan." <- Points for that movie reference.

I was thinking perhaps today's foolish one is tomorrow's Kind Of Cannabis. You never know. Look at Elon Musk and Twitter. Who saw that coming.

The other thing to suggest is to tell him (they) to Watch a lot of YouTube videos. Not everything is worthy of an award but it will give folks a wider general education on what people do.
