nice! Id love to do a big raised bed in the backyard if i buy this place. Plus a metal wire trellis setup for more cane plants. One day id love to also have boysenberries, tay berries, marionberries.


I am really surprised how much weight the purple punch is putting on at the end. now i really want to delay harvest as long as i can. Maybe got 5 days max.
I guess its just in the last stage, where it knows fall is coming. Never had them ripen up so well on flush.

Maybe it is from feeding them HH/TT and not just water only?

Been good here.

Just been working on my 84 g60 Jetta, enjoying the sunshine. Trying to stay strong and not cut down the plant for another 4-5 days. Let it fully finish off.
Want to get the other plants under the 250w MH.

Hope everyone else enjoyed the holidays.

Decent holiday, its flying by!! Got a little bit of garden work to do still, gonna spread out over today and tomorrow.

Went to my shop today, grabbed 25 lbs. Of One Shot cause I have tons of used #4 in tubs that need to be rejuvenated. I do love mixing soil.......plus pulling out my Buildasoil mix tub that's been sitting over 90 days, gonna kick start it with bokashi so it's good and active once I'm ready to plant in a week or so.

Anyone have recommendations on how best to use the NFTG line in conjunction with super soil in a SIP? After seeing the discussions on how you can't pre-mix nutes and that's not really advised as they react it makes me wonder how it would work even if top-fed and eventually sitting in the rez and if there's any ill effect to it lingering there. The rez and soil are heavily hit by EM already so I'd think I've covered the anaerobic base in that regard and the soil itself was hit with a good tea and had previously been 'cooked' for many weeks. So any use of bottled nutes is basically to kick start things, minor maintenance and then any love applied at the end (i.e a HH flush/etc).

The living soil SIP system with compost layer and EM1 res is a complete system, using nectar isn't going to make it better? Prolly fuck it up and defeat the purpose of letting the plant eat what it wants. It operates at lower ph and Herc is only getting up optimally in the upper 6's. High quality compost, EM1, bokashi and malted barley is what you should focus on for maximizing that system. Nectar just gonna interrupt the way the plant eats!!

I did use the barley in both the tea application and then about a full cup in each of the SIPs when I mixed things up for the final load into them. I also added some basalt, yucca meal (thermx from BAS) and then the 'kashi blend' from BAS as well along with some Mykos and Azos, PhotoPlus, etc.

While the soil was sitting and cooking it also got hit with some bokashi a couple time a few weeks apart and some red wigglers thrown in for the hell of it. The tea I used for this initial wetting down also included some Bu's compost this time and while mixing in some more perlite I used a good bit of that Bu's and some (store bought) EWC to improve the mix. My own worm bin doesn't output that much so what I gathered there got used in the tea itself to hopefully multiply the fresher micro herd. That bin had EM treatments over the past as well so I'm thinking my biology should be rocking it at least initially.

We'll see how this goes - in the past I know I was held back considerably by not staying on top of keeping things watered and probably letting it get a tad too dry. I'm hoping the passive nature of SIPs is the magic bullet for me. Any little extra maintenance/love I apply is still less work than before so I was thinking nectar might have some role to serve in the big picture - if not, that's money in my pocket. Of course I didn't exactly go cheap on my soil inputs but you know what I mean - less bottles/less water shipped across the country.

just stick to the EM1 and Bokashi teas in rez and every 3 -4 weeks topdress compost or EWC with a 1/3 cup of Bokashi. last 4 weeks no more compost topdress, just malted barley and Bokashi and your golden!! if you want to use some nectar, there is some great foliar recipes that can boost the performance of the SIP.

it can be extremely beneficial to drop a pump in the rez of a SIP to keep things moving down there. Even with all the EM1 it can still get funky. I got a buddy who crushes Sips and he swears by it. He doesn't use the covers either until flower, just straw in veg to help raise humidity then flips and puts on the plastic.

Hows everyone doing? Great I hope. I've popped on this thread a few times with some basic questions, I got 1 or 2 more if I may. A month or so ago I got the NFTG sample kit, and am waiting to my next grow to give it a shot which will be soon. I asked and it was answered on this thread that the recommended medium is NFTG #4, which I found and am planning on picking it up soon, 112 miles round trip but thats okay.

Ain't gonna lie I am kinda intimated by the NFTG feeding chart. I watched some videos on YT trying to get an understanding. The guy with the beard, no doubt a smart person when it comes to this stuff, but I can't keep up, way over my head. So I am thinking of trying #4 with One Shot to keep things simple. I assume #4 is recommended to use with One Shot? Or should I just be a man and use #4 with my kit?

the beard is the owner .... you can use one shot with #4 that will be like a time release food .. or dont use it and use the sample kit , its pretty easy to do , I like to use one shot for my outdoors .. #4 soil has a ppm below 300 and a ph starting around 7.0 so as long as you keep your mixes in check and slurries in check you are golden ..... if your working with seedlings you mite want to with 1ml or 2ml and work your strength up and see how the plant responds ... always remember if you have an issue make sure we have the slurry info so we can help you ....

Hang in there. Soon you will see each bottle as a unique tool in the tool box. It will click after abit.
Watch as many OCG youtube videos as you can.

Roll with the kit.....it seems daunting at first but if you get yourself a good ph pen and tds meter, its really pretty simple.

Hey quick question, I've started foliar feeding for the first time with BK... My question is, how often should I? The bottle says something like twice a week, but I've been doing it a lot more than that will no bad effects. What should I watch for to know when to do it, and also if I've done too much? I'm starting week 3 since the switch to 12/12... Thanks!

week 3 in flower , no more BK ... foliar up to 3rd week safer 2nd week ....if over done you will get leaf curl and twist ... can start foliar BK in veg just gotta make sure your soil supports it....always want to start at 1/4 strength and work up .... you can also foliar right after a feed day , foliar next morning like an hour before lights on if your not up on your slurries ....

Man im still blown away how much more smell, and weight the Purple punch is putting on during this flush. Its gotta be at least 15% of the over all weight.
Im sitting around 5% amber. Fade could use a few more days. Day 11? Of flush.

I know i can let it go longer and still get a ratio i want.
The fade would look nicer.

Want to chop it down so bad, but dont want to lose out on the extra weight. Might end up like a 16-18 day flush, but starting when it was all cloudy.


Should i have waited another week before flushing? ( for next time ).

Or is this long flush "ok".


crazy bigger farms dont hold out that extra few weeks to gain that much more weight & quality. I guess when you have the volume to make up for it. Its all about getting it out the door as fast as you can that will sell.

What up everybody hope ya holiday was great! Im ROOTBOUND!! 6 weeks in veg 3 gallon pot. Roots poking out of the bottom. Transplanting to 7 gallon smart pots. Problem is i have a few plants i cant tell sex and dont want to waste the soil on. Is it ok to flip them with the rest and transplant them if they turn out ok? I have a real even canopy and dont want to mess that up. Kind of a catch 22. Will it harm them if i keep them rootbound for another week or so till these last couple show threw? Just shootin for some ideas here. Other then that the plants look killer. Slurries staying around 250. Im full strength late veg roman i haven't flushed one time and only gave a tea one time. Feeding a lil less then 1/4 gallon every other day. Any more then that it takes a few days for pots to dry out. Trying to build soil up for flip. I feed slf every feed and photo p once a week with my feed. Foliar 3x a week with alternative recipes. Posiden and dr.growth once a week. And a gaia, athenas and aphrodites once a week to try to keep them nice and green and feed the microbes. Photo p in all foliars even tho it smells like liquid asshole.

its fine to flip with the rest , will be behind of the others thats all .... dude ! you are doing a lot of foliar !!! not bad , but damn ...lol.... keep them root bound will hurt , mite show some odd thinks like deficiency , low ppms ???? if slurries are staying at 250 cause the roots are sucking it all up there no soil to hold a higher # .... had this talk with Scott and irie .. people that have low ppms and can't get the #s up could be the plant out grew the pot... Photo plus I use as a root drench on tea days ....
