I don't agree with most of what Republicans say, but I agree with that. There's many racist Democrats who are whites that think other races than their own, especially blacks, are inferior. But rather show their superiority, like white supremacists, they feel sorry for them. So that particular specie of Democrat feels shame. In order to make up for what they know is wrong, they virtue signal. That's why people like UncleBuck constantly bitch about everyone else being racist, because who better to know a racist, than if you are one?
That makes them no better than the despicable white supremacists. But in another way, those Democrats (not all, but there's quite a few) who feel they're the minority's only hope, is also a form of racism too, which is why I say they're worse too, because only a racist can save you from other racists in their view.

You got major reading comprehension problems. Dixiecrats used to be one united party of racists before getting called on it. They then spit the party into pure Democrats who voted for civil rights because they saw it was in their political advantage, not that they cared one bit about civil rights. The other side turncoated to Republican, and only switched sides because their party, in their view, betrayed them, and found another platform for their hate.
Robert Byrd didn't magically understand Jesus for the first time, he was worried the suckers who would vote for him wouldn't elect his sorry racist ass anymore.
