no drainage ever ...not watering enough or is it clogged?

just a quick question , first timer. Im 5 days into flowering but not sure if im giving my girl too much water, ive been giving her like 3-4 L(over half a gallon) every 2-3 days. My main concern is ive never watered to point of drainage before, now im scared if i try it may not drain and my plant will drown. im not even sure if 3-4 L is way too much r is onot enough to cause drainage? its like 18 inches long looks really healthy. is alsp in a 2-3 gallon pot, thanks

I've got a 2.5 gallon pot with 34" tall plant in flower 4 1/2 weeks. She sucks up a half gallon, dries two days, and then is ready for another half gallon. It depends on how fast I pour it in whether it drains out any. If it does, it will draw it back up within a half hour, so I leave it be. If you've got drain holes in your pots, don't worry about drowning her. I've been hearing alot on here about a "make it rain" technique that entails flushing your plant until it has a big run off (which you dump), then you let her dry until she needs to be watered again, where you will add your nutes and feed normally. Then next time she dries out, you flush again and repeat the process. This is supposed to increase buds in a major way. I think the poster you want to find is 'RiddleMe' - or just search for 'make it rain' - to check it out. I'm going to have to water today, so I think I will give this a try and see what happens. They say it isn't how much you water the plant, but how OFTEN that will cause problems. Overwatering has to do with frequency as the plant pot will only retain a certain amount of water due to its capacity limits (just be sure you have drain holes and you're set). Good luck and happy growing!

I always use at least as much water as i have soil. I get a good deal of run off, which is good. youll find the pots need watering more often than when you were watering less and better root growth and nutrient uptake. Soil drainage itself is very important, i always mix pearlite in with my soil at a rate of 1/4 pearlite and 3/4 soil. sometimes a bit more pearlite. Just in case you didnt know so you can add some next grow. i'd actually give it a full flush right now, put 3 times as much water as you have soil in the container through the soil.

Dude, thanks! I just spent the last half hour reading the "make it rain" stuff. CRAZY! I'm going to have to try that technique.

I have quite a bit of perilite and miracle
Grow potting soil, I've never flushed or seen any drainage before. So pretty much I cn try to flood it a won't risk drowning it, I won't have fraught issues?

It shouldnt. like he said overwatering problems are caused by watering too often, watering too much at one time isnt really possible if youve got well aerated soil(ie good drainage), any extra simply drains out.

Yea that's my issue I've never tested drainage And am afraid if I try to flush it , it simply won't drain and I will mess the plant up, I've never tried to water over 4 l (half gallon) though ,
