I germ at a soil temp of about 76F. My understanding is higher temps are wanted for sweating cobbs. Just going off info in the IC thread.
It doesnt take high heat to make it sweat, any temp above the dew point in a sealed bag will sweat, you dont have to decarb the weed or anything

Good to know, thanks!

I'm not a fan of edibles anymore but will try it for science. Your smoke report?
for me the smoke was like bein back in the 70's, it brought back great memories and reminded me of thai stick and panama red. My first cobb was a mix of 3 land race sats I had grown. The one I just made is my Magic strain, it actually scares me to think how potent it will be lol

How much heat can a cobb generate during anaerobic fermentation at room temps? I think this occurs in brewing so wondering if it applies here? :bigjoint:

Well I have the leaves from 30 corn cobbs so far lol. Whole neighborhood is going to be blastin' corn out their asses.

Going to use these on next harvest, then buy more. All the farmers are still growin' corn so I am sure fresh corn will be on the market for a while. The stores strip the outer leaves the longer they set though.

I sweat mine in my grow room. Throw that shit in the dryer if you have to lol.

The first 24 hours are just in a bag with air (no vacuum or burial). This is the sweating period and then it gets vacuum sealed or buried for a week or two.
My test cobb leaves sweat for ~4 hours I will definitely take longer next time if you think it improves things.

I just put it on the hood of my veg light

You sweat the corn wrap with the weed in it? I sweat it separately for my experiment...

You get better results sweating it like this I am guessing?

I have no experience yet, but my understanding is that you sweat it with weed inside. At least that was my plan.

http://www.growingmarijuana.com/fermentation.php

"Though fermentation is faster when the material is tightly packed, the fermentation rate is highly determined by moisture content. It then follows that there is no universal rate of ferment because moisture content varies among strain types. The varying content of nitrogen is also a controlling factor. The nitrogen gas is important in maintaining the bacteria needed in the entire fermentation process."

I cannot find any info on what actually happens during weed fermentation! Other than chlorophyll breaking down... breaking down to what??

Does it break down into sugars? Toward the end of the 1 week cure the cobb was juicing syrup.

What's funny is I had a bud evidently fall out onto my bed when I was sweating/curing this last run. I woke up one morning and saw what looked like a turd. My dogs sleep with us so I was a little pissed until I noticed it was a bud. Evudently tossing and turning in the middle of the night for who knows how long made something that looks exactly like the cob buds. I may still have it. If I do I'll take a pic. Lol

Well, I cant compare to my buds yet cause they are still a little too wet, but after a week of drying, my first cob experiment resulted in the smoothest tasting smoke I've ever had. The cob weed puffed up when lit like pipe tobacco and left an aroma in the room after smoked that also reminded me of pipe tobacco. Very nice!

The high does not seem all that different but did seem to creep more, again, hard to compare at this point, hopefully both keep getting better, I know the buds will. I'm going to keep tasting, but have plenty of cob for longer term storage so curious to see how high changes over time.

Trimming my last of 5 different strains today, so excited to try more cobs in coming weeks. Should have next one available for testing soon! Harvest season is definitely more exciting now, like getting a two for one on smoke flavors.

And what exactly is special about corn husks? Seems to me you could just wrap it in parchment paper. Be considerably more convenient I would think. If you want to ferment weed though what you gotta do is have it moist enough and in a sealed container at about 122-127 F, though in this video he says 117-122. So let's just say 117-127, most curing guides specify 125 as ideal. This guy has some good videos about fermenting tobacco, just adapt it to weed I guess. When he mentions "case" it means the moisture content. Not much information in this particular video but you an find more on his channel.

My experiments continue. I've concluded a week dry time is too long in my dry climate so my first batch is probably too dry to cure properly. My later batches were only dried about 4 days and still have higher moisture content so I think they have better potential. Great flavor on all five strains but still no increased high that I can detect, just more creepy in getting to stone.

As for using corn husks, I really like the flavor they imparted, and they look cool. Otherwise I'm sure you could wrap them with whatever you like.

Will test again at 3 months. Glad I tried it, will do it again!

I'm coffee testing some Holy Grail cobb cure today, about 6 weeks into cure. Coffee tested regular Holy Grail buds yesterday. My coffee test is first toke of day, one toke only. Very Scientific. Except I have a sinus issue that is not allowing me to discern flavor very well, so I'll have to do more testing at a later date on that. I'm all about testing!

The high of the cobb is getting spacier. At least the first 20 minutes, where I am at now. Definitely more intense than the regular at this point, but I question the reason for this. My regular buds are smoking smooth now, but the cobb cured is smoother. A smoother draw could mean I inadvertently took a larger hit. So obviously kidding about this being scientific.

The high is more relaxing in the body, I can feels waves of relaxation going down my arms and into my fingertips, but don't really know how to describe it. I imagine the tin man felt this way after being oiled. Doing some yoga now sounds good.

For next comparison round, I will have to get them both to equalized RH level in jars and then weigh out equal amounts. About as scientific as I'll get on this! :bigjoint:
