North Atlantic Seed Co. Seeds

I really don't understand how the myth that seeds need to be soaked, put in paper towels and have a goat sacrificed has held on for so long. I toss a seed in some soil and water it, been doing it that way for years. Maybe a soak helps if the seeds are ancient, but any relatively fresh and viable seed will pop just fine the way nature intended.
I get where you're coming from and seeds certainly will pop if just placed directly in the dirt.

One reason I usually do the damp paper towel thing is, I sometimes start more than just a couple seeds and by putting them in dirt knowing they already have a root tail, it saves me the time and the space of planting seeds in prepared containers which may just be a dud. Although, admittedly, I sometimes get duds from seeds which have a root tail and came from a damp paper towel. Meaning they fail to grow a plant and sort of mock me in a beer cup or other container intended to be their nursery, until I finally toss them.

Plus the goat sacrifice, I'd really miss that part. :bigjoint:
