To target them, they'd need -very- big dirty bombs, and they'd have to be in the US already as a citizen.. any N.Koreans that fly into the US that are not citizens are pretty much stalked until they leave/go home. Aerial attack wouldn't work.. if they tried it.. the nuke cores would get flooded with foam and would then get sealed. (with evacuation until it's confirmed safe again)

I think it's funny that they'd consider Alaska. They haven't done much homework as Elmendorf AFB there is the NORAD command for Alaska, and the Canadian region surrounding it.

one more edit: You mention the patriot II, is that a form of anti air missile to counter the nuke they send? When and how will it hit target? Does it simply disable it, or set it off before it hits us? The first thing that comes to mind when I think about it is just making it explode before it reaches ground level, which will cause just as much damage and will only save so many people in the grand scheme of things from the blast itself

When it comes to N.Korea people should be more worried about ground forces than missile tech. Even worse, they should worry about their ally that
is a hold out against sanctions. Why would China hold out against major trade partners in comparison the N.Korea?

This is all nothing more than political jockeying that wont amount to much.

Patriot II is based off of the original Patriot system, except it's designed to intercept.. (see: remove thrust capabilities and disable) Even with that said, I still think it'd be best / optimal for interception over water.. on the off chance that the cores they're using are more unstable than usual. That's as much info as I have on it as the rest is top secret / compartmentalized / eyes only unless you're US military EOD, a member of Skunkworks that built it, or extremely high up the military chain.

I see, thanks, and totally agree. There will still be consequences but an intercept over water is the safest and least harmful thing we can do

The initial ones, based on lack of friendly fire detection by truly distinguishing radar type/signature, yes.. N.Korea's signatures are way different than ours, and I'm hoping that the Patriot II does as well in live fire drills (see: defensive attempts) as the previous testing went. I also think that part of it was that 1/2 of Saddam's shit is what was left over from what we gave him in the 80s to help deal with the Russia threat before the US 'lost positive control'. I firmly believe that's how we also knew he had the chemical weapons.. we probably gave those to him too.

if they can put a satellite into orbit, then they potentially have ICBM capability...thus making this image pointless.

ICBM isn't what I'd be worried about (compared to the other techs they were working on, not that the ICBM itself isn't a threat.. it's actually a major one) I'd be worried about any ability they may have with the LR-ICBM or FR-ICBM... which is a modification of what you speak exactly.. the use of the Tae-Po-Dong II - was originally used as an orbital booster with additional ballistic missile capability.. they were working on the III but no tests of that have been shown, and as of now.. if it's been in production or made it hasn't been released in any form of public statement that I've read about, so I'm hoping it doesn't exist or they'll have a 3 stage rocket capable of 10-12000 km.

Was shocked to see the stealth announcement... guess Obama had to make it known since the N.Korean technology can't see them at all.. would be pointless to fly them over undetected as a show of force/power. hahahaha
