Nothin but Rosin

Hay guys, Here we can show all our Rosin runs and what we use to press with.

I use a 5 Ton China Auto knock off of the Rosin Bomb. Works great no issues to report on it. I had to set up a temp offset. This controller is 100F off. Now that I have my temp table adjusted for this no issues..
ROSIN PRESS.jpg

I pressed this Mother pile yesterday. 200F 60 sec press time.I used 4oz of Sour Sunset flowers. I got back 20.2G.

Looks good. Just there's a lot of rosin pressing threads already so not that unique. Most seem to use 20 ton so there's a difference there.

20 ton is for commercial processing. I know a lot of people using 20T for home use there just not practical for there size. They are cheap I think that's why most get them. 5 tons is plenty of pressure for home use. I have no problem getting 20%. My thoughts on this thread where similar to lets see your frostiest plants but Rosin pics. I can let this thread die if no one wants to play. Just pressed this.

Actually it's good to know that 5 ton is as good as 20. That did seem a little extreme. My guess is that a simple hydraulic car jack would suffice, whatever capacity that is. Not a rosin guy myself though. Solvent is just way more practical, and not butane either, nice liquid solvents.

I have been reading a lot about Rosin. Its 1 of the cleanest concentrates any can make very easy. You dont need to process it. I use to make BHO for years. Without spending big bucks for the proper equipment Rosin wins.

There are definite advantages to going DIY...and value for money is on that list, up to a point. I have 2 x 12 ton H-frame presses in my home, with plates that I can swap out. Personally, I like the flexibility of tasking each press to whatever use I need at the time. I can run 2 heat presses, 2 pre-presses, or a combination of the 2....and, yes, I can do it for about half the cost of a single Sasquash. That's just win-win. And, as far as not being practical for their size...impractical for what? I use mine to make tasty rosin. Only my consumption device needs to be pocket-sized. Mind you, if you can put yours on a countertop in your kitchen or loungeroom, that might be fun for parties.

To add to the rosin pics, here's some Kaia Kush x Yoda Kush buttering up minutes after pressing.

LOL, Not practical for there size is pretty self explanatory. My wife is not gonna let me set up a large press in the living room. Its not something you have options where you can put it. The Garage is the only place I would setup that size of a press. Not all have a garage. The size of the press has nothing to do with making tasty Rosin. Believe me a counter top press can make as much rosin as a 20 ton it just takes longer. There are many 5t bench top A frame presses. The difference is how much you can squash in ea run. If your not making Rosin for sale why make large amounts to just sit around. I cant smoke an oz a week of this. If you know what your doing the quality from a 5 ton is just as good. The guys at low temp have stated.

"1000 psi is enough for optimizing yields and quality"

Nice pic lov Rosin

Can you please provide any details about your 5 ton press. I'd be interested in possibly obtaining one if you were to provide the maker name, dimensions, cost and shipping time. The rosin looks excellent! thank you

I got mine from Alibaba. They have 2 choices in this version. 1 is full automatic. you control the pressure with the buttons 860$, The other is manual Hydraulic hand pump 460$. Manual version can be up to 20t. These prices where a year ago. . The size of a large Coffee maker 9x9x16..Like I said most buy based on price. The large harbor Fright 6-20t press with low temp plates is the cheapest option. I know many that have leaking Hydraulic fluid from the ram heating up making the oil hot/thinner leaking passed the seals on these A frame presses. Lots to consider.

Ok. You mean the size is not practical for your situation. Got it. Fair enough too. If you don't have the room or your wife won't let you have anything else, a small unit like yours makes perfect sense (easier than replacing your wife ;-)). As I said, putting that little guy on your kitchen bench sounds like a fun addition to any party. Personally, I have a spare room in my house that I've turned into a hash room. I've stocked it with a Pollen Master tumbler, 2 x H-frame benchtop presses (with Low-temp plates), a dry sift station, a microscope connected to a 24" screen, and a TLC table. It's a fun little hash lab. But, I understand that not everyone has the extra space. I also get that not everyone wants to make that kind of investment (although, all of my gear combined cost less than a single v2 Sasquash). For many, a cheap chinese knock-off like yours is going to be perfect. It sounds like a good choice. Good luck.

Are you really getting 1000psi on your presses from that unit? I'd be pleasantly surprised if that was the case, even at maximum output. Are you using rosin bags or pressing individual nugs? If rosin bags, what size?

Here's another shot of that same rosin, contining to butter up. This was probably my favourite from this year's outdoor harvest...until I got my hands on some Green Crack.

Nice squishing @Hammerhead571

You guys may like this then...

Plates and controller are only ≤ $100...then whatever press you want for whatever size plates you make.

Thread on it here...

Very cool video. This is perhaps the best tip I've received on RIU. Thanks. I really appreciate it. I'm now planning on making a DIY version of the dual 2x9 cage I've had my eye on. I'll post pics once it's done.

The press is far from Cheap. All quality parts. Uses a Omron Controller. Its less expensive then a Rosin Bomb witch looks identical. I have no way to measure.. 1,000 psi is 5 ton for short conversion and 4.5t for long.. I use coffee filters. Bags are a waste and there way over priced. Should cost 50 cent per bag at most. I did have some 1.5 " x 4" bags.. 2 x 4 also work.

What? No, it's not. Those forms are not calculating what you think they are. To calculate the psi for a press...multiply your number of ton by 2000 (if US tons) - this gives your total pressure in lbs. Then, divide that number across the total number of square inches of whatever surface is taking the pressure (usually a rosin bag). That's why I asked what size bags you use. If your press is operating at 5 t (US) and your plates are 3x5, you'll have a psi of 666 (5x2000/15), if something fully covers the face of the plates. But, if your bags are 2x4, your psi is 1,250 (5x2000/8 ), regardless of the size of your plates...because the 10,000 lbs of pressure is spread over 8 inches, not 15. This means that on any press, if you increase the size of the plates, you decrease your maximum possible psi. This is part of the reason I like a 12 t H-frame: I can swap between 3x5 and 4x7 plates and keep my psi constant...or vary it, depending on the quantity I want to press at any one time and the source material I'm pressing (flower or kief). Without that extra headroom (and the ability to swap plates), I just wouldn't have that kind of flexibility to dial things in the way I like.
