Mine are mental! PTSD n stuff. You would assume that I was about 18 years old but alas, I am not. I've actually seen the face of war on more than one occasion which is no real testament to my age.

Nug's and I recently had a conversation about this exact topic.... the point of diminishing returns. there is a line. KK's ability to amend his potted soil in that size container is in no other words, amazing. Plus I don't think he could properly inoculate/amend his soil with much less.

Now, trying main-lining for the last few months has been fun, and for height/space restriction there is no compassion for the quality that comes from this technique (if performed properly).

Now, we also have to deal with the increased veg time, this is not a big deal for someone that is able to properly manage a veg & flower cycle at the same time. I probably wont be going as far from this point on, but I will be using the information and some of the techniques I have learned to adapt it to my garden.

I must say, for a plant that sits @ 3' from the floor. I can get some crazy yields.

So finaly i made it through the enitre thread, very interesting one btw that convinced me to try that on my next grow (popping some purple x skunk from dna genetics, i hope they'll like mainlining but i cant see a reason why they wouldnt considering the many strain you've used that technique with).

The first reason i came here was my interest in subcool. I'll get some of his gears along with some dna beans in my next order (Ace of spade if they're available, had my eyes on the appolo kaboom and of course vortex...)
I really like the idea but living in a big city in a n appartment makes it very difficult to "cook" the soil for two month, i always tried to stay as organic as i could so far. I've been using cannaterra soil along with iguana juice wich are both supposed to be organic products. (I had been using other additive-overdrive,big bud, cannazym- but might stay away from them-except for bud candy and kushie kush- now that i've read that thread trying to apply the "less is more" philosophy.

Is there anything you would advise me to change here? I'm a youg grower and really am pationate about this, i started growing gh seeds (stilll really like the forum but understood those beans were shit when starting growing some quality clones i got from a friend.) I know someone that diggs dna advance nutes and ask for adivce might seems a little nooby - which i'm compare ot you guys - but any advices would be really appreciated.

The lab is awesome i'll keep on following the thread and might start reading the thread of that other gentleman that grows outdoor bad-ass tga mainlined gears hehe (does anybody grow organic indoors?)

Thanks a lot!

right, not ideal for hash makers, or the impatient......more for Connoisseur flower growers......i will be posting a mainline vid soon....stay tuned....the "law of diminishing returns" is a great topic.....lets keep it flowing.

law of diminishing returns is correlated to canopy size. and only an issue if you dont re-use your soil. the difference between a 1000 gallon container and a 300 is plant health not necesarily yield.

lst is good for height restrictions and keeping plant #'s low. u can get the same quality by topping and prunning heavily.

exactly... I am both, a little impatient and love my hash.

There is still a point where, reusing your soil still has work involved in amending and inoculating it. The time/work involved can be considered a cost.

i agree somewhat......mainlining is about equal distribution of energy from the root mass = more efficiency/consistency/yield

Nugs, How does the zip/gal workout in terms of grams per kw of total power?
when i first started growing, i was chasing the g/w principle.....i thought that was a lofty goal for a SS grower.....and i just couldn't reach it until i started mainlining......as a small/medium plant grower using natural lighting, or lights, i think the zip/gal is a prestigious goal.

ur right. thats why i switched to beds inside. unlimited root potential. and re-amending is just a matter of castings, a bag of dr earth, and an electric roto tiller... i water in aact with a wand...

i am in the planning phase of a small soil-bed/scrog in my test cab....it is 32" x 32"......i will build the bed about 10 inches thick, and mainline her for 32......pretty sure i am going to go space jill......looking for another breeder.

well that didnt really answer my question. let me re-phrase... for your indoor grows start to finish how much power, as in kilowatt hours kwh does it take to get a zip/gal plant? u said u like cost analysis....

btw ive seen, not grown a 3# in a 65 hows that for diminishing return?

thats a good question, but more importantly is the fucking ever-rising cost of juice....right now we are at about 12 cents a kwh....thanks Obama........right now i am reaching or exceding zip/gal under 600's (5 gal pots).....and greenhouse proper, and greenie/sun (7-10 gal pots)......my goal is to get zip/gal down under the sun in a patio plant style....just have not been through a sun specific experiment yet.....48 zips in a 65 is fucking bad-ass bro....no question, that grower has skills.

i don't really look at it at from that angle....i know what my indo grow costs me for juice through the entire season just by looking at my energy use before i built, and began running it.....what is relevent, is the ever increasing overall yield within an unchanging system (energy expendature).....getting ever closer to the line....

Nugs, you ever read about Soma's beds? The look pretty cool, and sound similar to what you're thinking about building. He runs PVC pipe down each corner that run into a bed of pebble at the bottom that helps to bring in air to the roots. I'm probably doing a lousy job of explaining it. I can scan a page in from his book, if you like. I can't see much point in trying to buy it just for that alone. :peace:

oh, and btw, loving my mainlined girl right now. Hardly did anything to her, and she looks great. Thanks Doc ;) later!
