OC Kush, ScroG, 2 X 125W CFL, Ebb and Flow Cabinet Grow

Tough call, Jack. If there's already 10% amber on my plant, I wouldn't wait too much longer to harvest her. That said, 75+ days for flowering isn't unusual. Some strains flower for much longer (albeit mostly Sativas).

Has there been much change to the trichs over the last 10-14 days? Like, does it seem like they've 'stalled'?

Absolutely, it doesn't seem like there has been any movement in the last two weeks. I can see changes every few days in the White Widow now but with the Kush, nothing.
 
You're quite certain that at least 60% of the trichs are still clear? That's a ratio that would concern me a little if I was considering chopping the plant. Too many clear trichs indicate that the THC production hasn't reached its peak, and whilst I'm not too concerned with seeing a bunch of amber, I seldom harvest before at least 50% of the trichs are opaque.

Did you buy that digital microscope? A really close inspection of the trichs, and you'll be able to see whether they're clear and not yet mature (trichs also still standing straight up at this point), or if the trichs are opaque and/or amber and bent over like they're top-heavy (which is optimal).

Pic 1 is of clear immature trichs, pic 2 shows the stems of the trichs starting to turn opaque, pic 3 is a fully mature trich, amber and bent over. This level of detail is virtually impossible to see with a simple jeweler's loupe, so if you're in any real doubt, maybe go ahead and grab a microscope.

My amber trichs have heads that are amber but the stalks are clear, same with the milky ones. The biggest problem I see is that I started flushing two weeks ago. The leaves are starting to turn yellow as all of the nutrients are being consumed. If I want to continue to allow it to mature I will have to add nutrients back to my res, correct? and then by the time that it starts getting nutes back into the plant it will be time to start flushing again????? I don't mind adding in nutes and keeping this going but I don't want to start something that is going to cause issues. If you thing the gains will out weigh the negatives then I will add back the nutes and see what happens. I just wonder if I should just go for 48 hours of dark, starting tomorrow and call my first grow good but could have been better. I started out on the wrong foot with the clone being in flower, plus a few other minor mistakes so maybe this is the best I am going to get from this grow. All my local friends are close to being as new as I am so I don't have any anyone else with more experience to take a look. My White Widow is doing exactly what I expect it to do. The trichs started building up and they formed just right. Now they are starting to get milky all over with no amber yet but I am betting in a few more days I will start seeing the beginning of amber trichs coming along. What would you do in my situation?

I would go with your suggestion and plan for a harvest within the next few days, man. For your first run (and it having been started from a re-vegged flowering clone), I would say it has been an exceptional attempt.

Rest assured, the flowers look ripe enough. I'm certain that although you aren't seeing as many opaque/amber trichs as you would like, those dried & cured buds will get you absolutely belted.

After sleeping on it last night and seeing that you agree with my assessment, I am pulling the plug before the lights come on this morning. I will give it 48 hours of dark and then cut her down on Sunday morning. I am pretty happy with the way it has turned out and I have learned a lot during this grow. I will keep everyone that has been watching this grow informed as to how it turns out as far as yield and quality. And Jim, I wish there was some way I could share some of my buds with you for all the knowledge you have shared with me during this first grow. If you ever get over to the US I hope we can get together and get totally baked.:bigjoint:

I think you're making the right call, man. Completing my first run was incredibly satisfying, and really boosted my confidence in my ability to produce a quality product under CFLs. The next few were fairly straightforward while I tried to iron out the kinks in my setup. It looks to me like you know what you're doing, and are well positioned for many more successful hobby grows.

De nada, Jack. It's really easy to help people who clearly put some effort and research into their grow/growing methods. Enjoy your buds - there's nothing quite like smoking your own homegrown. I hope I never lose that sense of pride every time I harvest. All the months of effort, and she always rewards you.

There's an outside chance I'll be driving down the west coast from Seattle to San Francisco late August with the Mrs. If we make it over, and you're anywhere en route, I'd count on it.

I wish I lived in that part of the US. They grow some awesome bud in that area. Unfortunately you won't be anywhere near me. I live in the Phoenix AZ area. If you guys ever make it over to my area my wife and I would love to get together. If your much into tourist type stuff the Grand Canyon is a beautiful place to visit.

Well, today was the day. My first harvest.

I couldn't beleive this, I grab some twine to hang the plant from for the first few days and when I went to open it today I saw this and cracked up.

Now I just need to wait. In a few days I will cut the long stems off of the main stalk and allow them to hang for a few more days. after that I will do a more complete trim and jar it up to cure. I will give it at least a week of curing then we will see how it came out. I'll pop back in and let you guys know how it turned out. I was wondering, I'm getting ready for my next grow and I need to get the Hydroton out of the roots. How do you guys clean out the old roots?
 
I let the pebbles sit in a bucket of water with some bleach for a few hours, then I rinse them through a big strainer for a good 20 minutes (or however long it takes to make sure there is absolutely no bleach residue left on any pebbles).

The bleach helps break down the bigger root matter, and the strainer has holes big enough to allow small root matter to pass through, but not the pebbles themselves. You can use a mesh net or something as the strainer.
 
Thanks Jim, your method worked out great. Well, my bud has stabilized in the jars so I know I am not going to lose any more weight so I can say for sure what I ended up with, and I am very happy with the end results. I ended up with:

64 grams of prime trimmed cured buds
38 grams trimmed cured popcorn buds
20 grams of shake.
Out of the shake I pulled 6.4 grams of beautiful golden kief. The buds are super potent, at this point I haven't even smoked any of the prime buds only the popcorn buds and I am super happy. I will continue to let the best buds cure for a while and see how they turn out. Here are some pics.

Not to bad for growing under a couple of CFL's for my first time. I will be starting White Widow in this cabinet very shortly to do a comparison between 250 watt CFL's and 150 watt HPS.

I'm having a hard time filling even one of my grinders with kief so I'm drooling over here
