I'm looking forward to it Smokey... I think if you had used the soluables you'd see less a differance, but that's pretty dramatic for just the purple maxx.

You want to add all the nutes to the water, then check, you don't want to mix nutrients before diluting them...
Also, that 8 dollar probe isn't the same as a pH pen, it will tell you if the soil is within the desired range, but that's about it, the variability is like + or - a whole point, chances are the soil is within the proper range... Mine's at 6.2, when I put one of those probes in, it merely goes a little bit towards 6, but it mostly looks like 7... It sits at 7 when it's not in anything... Seriously it moves maybe a millimeter or two towards 6.
The best way to check soil pH is to check your runoff, the water that comes out of the bottom of the pot. If you feed it 6.2 water, it should come outta the bottom 6.2...
