how about this ^ i seen some used ones in the papers for less than this but it consumes more energy than id like to use.

I seen a review that says it would work well for a 12x14ft room (mine is 8x10ft) but i'd like a 2nd, 3rd, and maybe 4th opinion.

seems like a fair price and free shipping.
It only has a 16oz reservoir...you're gonna have to empty it all the time man.

You're better off just paying the full whack to get a proper one instead of having to pay double for things that you buy that just don perform the way you want.

It's an expensive hobby but it grows a very valuable product, sometimes we gotta just man up and pay the money sadly.

Hope this helps.

i figured this would be the most popular answer.

i guess i'll give my space heater a whirl and see what it does. If it doesn't work to drop the humidity a good 5-7% or better ill do just that...

Damp Rid http://www.damprid.com/ we use this here in FLA, not in my grow area but in the rest of the house and it works well :peace:
ive heard some mixed reviews on this. which works well for you? (as there are so many damprid products)

my room is 8x10 (i dont use this whole space for the plants...they only take up half the room)

Lights on - 73-79 degrees w/ 50-55% humidity
Lights off - 63-68 degrees w/ anywhere from 55-62% humidity.

i'd be content humidity being a stable 50-55% range its the big 6-0 mark that worries me. im not sure how easily mold grows at 60% but i know i have to be close as during a previous grow i hit 70% for just 1-2 days and got mold.

question...couldn't i buy silica gel in bulk and use it the same way? supposedly (according to somethings ive read) that 900g of silica gel will dry out an area of 66cu ft. 900g i believe is 2 lbs of silica. i believe w/ my room i should need about 8lbs of silica to do the trick as 8ft by 10ft by 7ft is about 550-560 cu ft right?

so 8lbs of silica would be 528...close enough. might get 9lbs if i need to.

thoughts?

what do you think? should i just by 9lbs of silica gel? ive heard it can be used by heating it in the oven (to remove moisture from it)

I fell for the damprid....not changing the humidity on my digital display and after 4 days i see about 5 drops of "water" in the bottom bucket. The little white rock things are all stuck together and shit but not the slightest change on the meter. Its getting moisture out of the air just not enough to do anything of signifigance IMO.

As much as i dont wanna,im looking daily for a cheap dehumidifier because ill need it eventually if im having issues now. I think thats the only logical option available.

Ill keep my eyes peeled for a dehumidifier (used) i cant justify blowing $200 or so to drop the humidity 10% for only 2-3 months a yr.

im not gonna get anything at this time (ie. damprid, selica gel, clay, kitty litter, etc) im just gonna keep going with the a/c as needed until i come across one. I'll probably not blow more than $50 on one tbh.

let me know how your luck goes.

EDIT: btw.. I seen some dehumidifiers used on ebay for $20-30 or so (0.01 but shipping is set to $20-$30). id bid myself but my account was suspended for some reason i do not know so unfortunately i cant get one unless i "buy it now" which is almost always a high price.

if you have the means i think ebay will get one for you. im gonna have to rely on flea markets, classifieds and want ads. maybe another auction site etc.

What you are looking for are called Desiccants. There's all types. Try here: www.lmgtfy.com
Well thats simple enough. I know what desiccants are and what types are available (for the most part). however what i DONT KNOW (and why i made this thread) is which ones work best and which are to be avoided.

I figure since its related to growing mj i should go specifically to an mj forum and ask to see what others have done with success.

oh...and...

I think you meant to do this

but nice try.
