Plants grown from seed have hybrid vigor and can grow up to 25% faster and bigger than clones. Plants aren’t stupid, the seed uses the taproot to program itself to it’s environment. If it goes down 3-4 inches and hits the bottom of the pot the taproot sends the signal to the seed that it’s in a location with limited soil depth and it better not get too big. If it doesn’t encounter a restriction it programs the seed to grow as large as it can. Clones can’t do that, they just produce a mass of roots. I start new seed moms every year and put them outside to grow big. Before I put them outside I take clones from them to use inside in my hydro setup. So outside I like seed starts, inside I use clones to have multiple plants with the same characteristics.
