One plant died overnight; worried second one might be going too

For lights I have 2 four-foot mercury vapors that are about a foot and a half away from them. Soil + perlite. Oscillating fan and air purifier. They are definitely not overwatered.

Last two pictures are of the dead one. I threw it out because it smelled a bit and definitely was not going to bounce back. I think it had passed because I used a weird soil mixture this time (for science). It was those nutrient release soils which I know you're not supposed to use, but was all I had..

But in the first picture, as you can see, my healthy plant seems to be a bit droopy? Like the newer leaves are oddly 'curled' in. Does anyone know if this could be something not-soil based? It does not have time release soil.

Go to local indoor garden store ask for soil wit low nuet content and transplant ur still living one but it looks a little burnt on you r bottom leaves but the new growth looks ok so whatever did it ur not seeing anymore and the droop could be to actually under watering with over watering the leaf and its stem droop together but underwater the leaf droops and the stem stays normal but if that's ur prob water and will come back with in a couple hrs that curl could also be nitrogen toxicity u can really c it ur sicker plant picks the leaves almost look like a hand with claws the way they r bent I would just re pot wit some non time released nutes hope there is some info to help u fix

Theyre not overwatered or underwatered. :/ I do the finger-into-soil test everytime. I'm considering nitrogen toxicity but I from my experience I'm not overdoing it.. THe healthy alive one is not in nutrient soil. Thanks for ideas

for starters do not mist when the lights are on!! And it looks like you have a deficiency for sure. I would definitely do what sensimilla86 said and get some good soil and transplant. Get some real nutrients that has everything a plant needs. I use Alaska fish fertilizer 5-1-1 and it works amazing.(note this fertilizer is for veg only)

They are vegging in 24 hour light so there's not really a time when the lights are off.. Nor has it caused a problem for me yet (no burns).
I do have good soil. If you read it I said it is not nutrient soil. It is just dirt and perlite (in the healthier one). I do have fertilizers so I do not think the issue is deficiency. :/ I last gave it nutes last week.

Because nothing else makes sense.. I think it's nitrogen toxicity.

looks like N toxicity to me. Maybe not acclimated well if they were clones under a humidity dome? I think the one you tossed could of pulled through, but oh well. Best of luck!

I was gonna say that too that it may have able to be salvaged but how would well it would a produced but I guess as long as you let get healthy befor the flower flip it may not effect it to much

Just a helpful hint the first knuckle test is not a full proof test for weather needs water that is helpful but I'd go by the weight of your pots as when nice and saturated will be much heavier doing both will really let you no but anyways r u pH your water BC that could b where the feeding problem is as u probably are (I hope) but it was not brought up and that could b why one nuet is toxic and others may b getting locked out if this n toxicity it can't b to bad as the color isn't real dark green but there is some slight claw effect on some of the bigger sun leaves if worse comes to worse and it doesn't come back around for ya I'd flush her and start back at none or low feeds
Good luck getting thing straightened out

Well, most of the leaves were limpy soft and browning.. and it smelled. And all that happened in 24 hours.. So it just seemed like a timebomb.

For sure man, I understand. Def. better to be safe rather than sorry & have it effect your other healthy plant. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Best of luck, hope your grow goes wonderfully! :weed:

Yep,,,,,Buds got one!
Your roots are dying and that's taking out the whole plant......Pyth. could be it or the roots got to hot..
Hmm, Mercury Vapors eh? You do know they put out lots of UV right?......THAT looks like it might be killed by the UV radiation also......I have seen that happen before!!

mercury vapors are a no no dont have correct light spectrum and like dr who said lots of uv light which will radiate into the soil (not making it radioactive kind of radiate) heating it up from the inside out
