lol. not too sure man. I just know that the sun dried weed got me high as heaven. Could have been what they were feeding the plants...could have been the strain.....I don't think it degraded the THC content though.

Don't sun dry plants people!! Just thought I would add that......Shit, I don't think anybody wants to spend months caring for a plant just to get harsh smoke.........Except for the Paisa's I know......They just did it like that because it is faster and they had so much bud to dry in so little time. And that is how they do it in their native territory.

A few years back I was harvesting a large crop. I temporarily left some on a clothes line, took a smoke break, forgot about them for a few days, and when I came back they were all bleached yellow. I ended up giving it to a friend, who claims it smoked fine, just a little harsh, but IMO it looked ugly. and brittle as fuck. The stem, leaves, nugs, all of it was yellow like dead grass.

The OP asked for tips for getting max potency. My tip is to invest in the best genetics possible; grow outdoors; and give each plant plenty of space and soil that's rich in organic matter.

Left them on clothing line too long.

And good tips

Not only am I going to do some sun drying this season, I am going to solicit opinions on the quality from test subjects that will not be informed of the difference in processing.
Will burn the shit out of their throat man. make sure they are not sick or don't need it for medical reasons.

Medical reasons? Everybody I know needs it for "medical reasons". Indeed, I think any harshness would be interpreted as a sign of quality in my area. As luck would have it, I can start the experiment right away. I have placed a branch on a rock to see how it drys out.

Furthermore, the first test subject will be myself. I only involve others to eliminate subjective bias on my part.

It is suboptimal, as a result of problems, not the least of which was moving it from out to in several times due to security issues. However, I believe it has sufficient development to be effective based on past experience with this strain. The rest of it is being dried normally, as the control. Note that I did not wish to expend the bigger parts of the plant on an experiment. Outdoor drying works fine, but trying to mimic South American methods is something I have not previously attempted.
