I am in the middle of my first indoor grow right now. Its going great.

I am curious what everyone's opinions are on what the best indoor growing strains are. I am looking into buying some seeds so I wanted to see what everyone thought before buying them.

Everyone's opinion welcome

Im looking to have Indica over sativa. I smoke A LOT so I most definitly need potency. I hear there are some that give you energy and some that slow your roll... Either would be fine for me as I might grow one of each. Day time and night time...

Thanks everyone! :)

I just dont have the time to grow sativa. Once my grow right now is done I will only have a few months to get one last grow in before summer. Once summer gets here I have to quit for a few months. Indica takes less time to grow is my understanding. Or am I wrong on that one?

it all depends by the strain man..there's a bunch of sativas that are pretty fast..for indica i suggest you something like sour bubble, peyote purple or some kind of OG,burt really dunno what to pick or from withch seed bank..maybe deadhead og from CC or something from rare dankness or karma genetics..or csg

Total growing time is highly strain dependent.

Its true that the the pure sativas take a long time to grow (can be 16+ weeks of flowering), but very few people grow those indoors.

Most indoor growers who want something like that will grow a hybrid plant bred to give a sativa-like high, but with less flowering time.

But figure 11-13 weeks time from seed to chop for a good indica, roughly 13-17 weeks for a good sativa-dominant hybrid, or maybe a bit less with certain fast sativa strains. There probably are a few strains where you can go from seed to maturity in about 10 weeks, but yield will be lower, and I don't think these super fast strains are known for potency.

Yes, the sativas take longer, but I don't think its SO much longer that you can't squeeze one in between now the end of May so long as you plan carefully. If you pick a reasonable sativa strain, and plant the ceeds sometime in Jan, then get it into flowering by mid/late February you should be fine.

If you start from a clone, you can shave off about three weeks from the above. In fact, if your current grow isn't well into flowering you might chop off a lower branch and try rooting it. If you like the results you get with the main plant, when you're done you can put the rooted clone right into flowering, to save a few weeks, and not have to worry about sexing your plant.

If you want to start from ceed, since seedlings are small, you can start them off under a small fluorescent desklamp or similar light a few weeks before your larger plants are ready, also shaving of a few weeks grow time.

In terms of which strain, there are a gazillion to choose from. I'd say pick anything from Mr. Nice, Sannie, Serious, to name three breeders where pretty much all of their lines are good. Also, its pretty hard to go wrong with any of the "classic" cup winning strains: Northern lights, Skunk #1, Bubblegum, AK47, Jack Herer, to name a few.

I'd actually stay away from the OG/CA strains for a new grower, since many of those are hermie prone, and they need a little more work to make yield.

AK-47 from Serious Seeds is a good "go to" strain, hard to complain about it...a good yield, a good high, good taste and its fairly quick. Seed are a bit pricy, though worth it IMO.

a good first strain to start growing would be Black widow from Mr. Nice seeds. its the original real deal widow bred by the legend. get yourself a cutting that tickles your fancy, with 15 seeds a pack its hard not to find a keeper. i had one girl that gave a really heady/facial high could not stop smiling, indica buzz and no paranoia, very rare buzz indeed and i've regretted not keeping it.

If smell isn't a factor, I love a good skunk, like Island Sweet Skunk, Skunk #1/shit from Mr. Nice , or Super Skunk from G13. If smell is a factor, Northern Lights often has high potency indica phenos that smell of pine or various citrus. And if you do want to grow some sativas thas are really fast finishing, check out some of the Cindy 99 lines available, as I've never had a cindy finish in more than 9 weeks.

get that cali connection. serious seeds is good, but with a free pack of chem 91 the choice is obvious. pre 98 gets lots of peoples attention for its quality, i've grown hybrids of it yet not the real deal. i have 1 ripped bubba clone (pre 98 Bubba x Jack the ripper) she smells like cherry lemonade, very sweet and distinct purple/magenta hues. super frosty but average yield at best. the bubba mix's really nice with almost anything, so if that chem 91 has a good male or vice versa you can make some nice f1's.

Its actually 18 seeds a pack and I have to say my current go at BW is very promising.

I do clone only 99% of the time, but Most of the strains I do you could attain the seeds somewhere I'm sure. My favorites are the ones I know little history on. Got clones from a medical buddy from colorado and they are all my favorite strains now! The one strain "old blue" is so stinky like blueberries It grows more towards the sativa side but still shows indica charaterisitics, def my new top fav besides "satori" and the "g13 x haze" and last but not least "Mango". I know you can find seeds for a few of those easily im unsure of orginial lineage on breeders for any of them unfortunately though sorry. Good luck!

I'm an Indica lover and Northern Lights from Homegrown Fantaseeds has never done me wrong. Easy to grow, potent, and never gets boring. You can play with the harvest time to adjust the intensity of the stone. I'm an older stoner so Northern Lights will always hold a special spot in my heart. Good memories!

G13 Labs "OG13". Their version of "OG Kush". Medium height, very easy to top and LST and get good size buds of damned good smoke. Would be an excellent SCROG candidate.

if you get into energetic, or at least motivational strains, those tend to be sativas and dominants. i don't go for stoned at all, but at the lower end of mids, jack's cleaner 2 is visually trippy, very euphoric and has a mild agreeable stone that's functional with a really cool "warm blanket" body effect and especially sensitive tactile effects that "touchy feely" sums up... very complex and all enjoyable CH9 jack is less psychoactive and isn't touchy feely, but it has a nice potent happy stone that's functional in a compact plant for stonier fare, i love the taste of sour cream as it's more delicious than skunk #1 or even blueberry, but a similar medium stony buzz. the flavor is the reason i tolerate it. any stonier than that starts pissing me off. sativa trans-love is a nice light high that isn't too racy or trippy, pretty much like a generic watered down haze, but it flowers quickly leaving most strains in the dust the 1st month of flowering. it has a generic fruity flavor. it's a good beginner strain if you're not sure you like getting high, though most actually prefer it, and you'll get decent yield quick out of it. i like fruitier and trippier sweet haze more, but it's stretchier and maybe not what you're after as it sounds like you'd rather get stoned than high. lemon skunk is a nice light clearheaded and happy high too that's less stony than skunk #1 with a nice lemony flavor and a cool golden glow. that's a good entry level high before you venture into crazy can't sit still sativas like kali mist or trippy stuff naturally jumpy people shouldn't blaze. i can't help much more on the indica front as sour cream is as stony as i can tolerate and even then, without the delicious flavor, would avoid it. if you want an orange flavored really euphoric stoner strain, most people seem to love jillybean.

A really good obscure strain to grow is White Queen from Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds... but here's the thing; a lot of people have had trouble with this seed bank. I've only ordered from them once and it took about a month and a half for the seeds to come (I'm sure the fact that I ordered with a money order and it took the money order 2 weeks to get to them had something to do with this), but I can honestly say that White Queen was the best strain I've ever grown. And I would love to hear another grower's opinion of the strain.

If I was starting fresh... I would start with Northern Lights. I like the Peakseedsbc NL. But I would try the Dr Atomic - Atomic NL if I was to start over. People around here talk up the Nirvana NL too.

for an indica dominant, you can't go wrong with northern lights. low odor, very productive, and easy to grow. it's in a TON of crosses including popular NL5 hazes. i have some 25% NL5 columbian gold myself. if you want to go for flavor, OG kush is still very popular and in a ton of newer crosses. people were paying $2000 for that back before cuttings and eventually seeds started circulating. i've never tried it myself and always gift OG freebies, but there's got to be some reason people love it so much and from what i remember about the cannabible entry, it's the flavor. speaking of flavor, i have a tart cherry buddha's sister indica bean i want to test. it's supposed to be very resinous, and it has won a cannabis cup, or maybe it was it's reclining buddha sister. it might be skunky too, but that flavor sounds more interesting than blueberry to me. i'm not a fan of blueberry, but THAT strain is hugely popular, and actually took 1st place in an informal favorites survey with a couple dozen at least replies, only a few votes ahead of haze. i like the idea of at least getting a delicious flavor if going with an indica. i'll NEVER get people STILL liking the skunkiest strains possible... mmmm mmmm mmm... that skunk's ass sure tastes WTF?!!!!
