Outdoor slug problem?

alright, so recently my friend and i set up an outdoor grow tent. I planted all my happy little seedlings just to find the next day that some huge ass spotted slug had helped itself to topping my babies. Unfortunatly, i cannot afford any fancy pesticides (nor do i want them on my babies) and i was wondering if there was any way to keep the slugs away without salt or pesticides??

Why no salt? but lets see to keep them away without salt or pesticides.... that basically leaves picking them off by hand.

Salt can seep into the soil and build up in the plants... It will eventually kill them. Just like if you water your plants with well water that goes through a water softener

I see what you mean, but it would take a good amount of salt to mess with the plants outdoors unless your putting it straight in there pots if your using pots. Also another way that worked for me was to just dilute the salt in some water and use it as a spray worked better for taking out the slugs then trying to pour it on them or around the grow and didn't have any effect on my girls. But in the end its whatever works for you.

Diatomaceous Earth, food grade not the pool stuff. OMRI listed, it can be found online if not locally. I plan to use it as a barrier for strawberries. If slugs try to cross it they get cut and die.

BEER!

my mom always would cut down some party cups and fill them w/ beer. cut the cup down to 2 inches and fill w/ 1 - 1 1/2 inches of beer

place these cups around your plants, slugs love it. they drink it and die from drunkenness. should see some floating in the cups in no time.

The beer attracts insects. Just use the copper wire method and you'll be fine.
Place copper wire to make a barrier, on the ground, around your plants. It creates an electrical shock as the slug passes over it.

Slugs are one of the worst creatures to have with marijuana seedlings, one slug can kill multiple plants overnight. It seems like out of all the surrounding vegetation, the slugs end up going for the mj plants, slugs are attracted to marijuana the most, they must think its delicious, probably a delicacy lol. Ive heard of many methods over the years, two of the most common being the beer and copper wire trick, slugs can cross copper wire, unless you spend a bunch of money on wide copper metal and place that around your plants buying spindly copper wire will not do anything. The slugs are only attracted to the beer because of the yeast in it, the beer goes bad within a couple days and you have to change the beer almost every day. I have also heard of people putting down dry substances around the perimeter of the plant, the theory being, slugs have to produce to much slime in order to crawl over something so dry making it impossible to penetrate. Sand and wood ashes are supposed to be to good for protecting from slugs. My way is a little different, I like to do things the fast way, and the fast way, and the way I recommend is go down to your nearest hardware store or garden shop and buy a 500g or so box of slug bait pellets. Its a box that contains a bunch of tiny pink pellets, all you have to do is simply spread it in little piles in different areas near your plants. I can guarantee you that this stuff works wonders, it will stop literally EVERY slug that ever had a mission on munching on your plants. A 500 g box of pellets is only about ten bucks and can last an entire season, depending on how big of a garden space you have. You only need to re-apply every 2-4 weeks, but the seedling stage is when the plants are most vulnerable. So Quick before another bastard slug kills another plant, go buy some slug bait and sprinkle!!! lol hope that helps, happy toking.:bigjoint:
