my friends doing the grow with me he's brought down 18 50L bags of soil. I haven't thought too much about soil prep, I've never grown outside my friend has.
Will post the idea for the soil prep for opinions and any suggestions on improvements or other ideas, any ideas of soil prep you have suggest away.
I think I'm going to do purple maroc just because the weather down here is so unpredictable.

There's a number of different slow release nutrients that you can amend the soil with. Chicken manure pellets, Fish Blood and Bone, Bonemeal, Sulphate of potash, Guano all have their purposes. If you have access to well rotted manure, you can work that it into the soil to improve drainage, add nutrients and beneficial micro-organisms.

Thanks for that I grow in soil usually and was just going to make a mix up that is similar to what I use indoors, perlite, vermiculite and a good soil. I do like the sound of a organic grow though will definitely have a look into that. I'm a lover of canna nutes myself.

I'm going to think about autos for April as I probably previously mentioned.

I wonder if the PURPLE MAROC is mostly a Moroccan Sativa that has had something else crossed into it....
Something that makes it better suited to more northerly climates?

I watched the STRAIN HUNTERS - MOROCCO episode, with the Green House Seeds people self publicizing.
I was a little saddened to see how the traditional Rif Mountain strains are rapidly being replaced with Afghani Indica's.
A similar process is happening in Jamaica.
The Afghani's are more disease resistant, earlier to flower, higher yields and more potent
So they win on every level
BUT the traditional strains are dying out!

In 50 years it may be that they grow Afghani's in Durban, Rif Mountains, Colombia, Thailand....
And that would be depressing!

just looked back to see what strain i did out side and had good results it was a.m.s from greenhouse
seeds but regular not femanised i will be hitting the hills this year with a out door but autos

AMS is a good strain, (Anti mould resistant) so it is a great strain to do an outdoor on.

Did a Super Silver Haze once, didn't have a chance to finish flowering before the frost set in, so I wouldn't recommend that one. However, Auto-flowering strains I would think are ideal, given that the UK usually has a mediocre summer. I wouldn't go by what happened last year, in the South of England, we had a very good summer last year and didn't get a frost until mid November. I was kicking myself for not doing an outdoor grow last year, I really was. I wouldn't think it'll be like that again this year though.

If not auto's, then go for something with a fast flowering time, something like C99 or Green Poison.

Oh and I see that some of you are talking about Durban Poison. Don't get it from Dutch Passion, it's fucking awful!

I would always recommend doing photo-periods over autos in the UK. Autos just don't have the mold resistance necessary in our climate, especially in a mediocre summer. They can literally turn to mush in a few days of terrible weather. Plus, the seeds are more expensive and get a lower yield.

That being said, they can work well for a fast and stealthy smoke.

Don't think I'm going to go for an auto, prefer photo-periods. Think I'm going to stick with purple maroc. Going to look at the chosen place next weekend, so can figure out how to do things. It's just a bit of fun. Have always wanted to try and do a grow outside.

It'll be autos for me again this year. I'd love to do photos but for stealth reasons autos are a better choice for me. Just don't know how big photos would get outside, I'd constantly be para about it getting seen

Yea photoperiodic plants are best for uk, some autos do well though, if you had a big purple maroc say at a 4ft wide space you could still harvest a good 4 ounces with autos in that space so thats an earlier harvest, but then again you could get a 6oz plant and smash it apart.
