obama has two kids but that is a far cry from five.. and im not arguing about how many kids she has... read the topic.. i agree she should be at home in alaska with her family and not in dc dealing with politics. what is she gonna make all her kids leave everything theyve ever known to live in a city with one of the worst crime rates in the coutry or is she gonna split time and ignore her parental obligations?

and my reasons for her being vp are pretty clear.. she cares more about tax revenues than the good of the people which is evident in her decision for the huge 27 billion dollar gas pipeline and she has no form of experience in governing a large population with urban problems or any foreign policy experience... and dont think im an obama supporter because i believe the same about him

Not unfair at all. Work is work. A working mother is a working mother. Your position seems to be unfair by suggesting that a woman should be disqualified to be Vice President just by the virtue of the fact she is a mother.

Do we want our politicians to be elitists with seven houses or regular people who went to the University of Idaho majoring in Journalism? Apparently as long as the people in question are Conservative - neither is acceptable.

I sense fear and desperation from the Democratic Party.
Actually, there is a group of "journalists" that engage in speculation and innuendo. It is yellow journalism, in the 21st century, saying these things. Most, are just pissed, because they cannot get working press credentials. So they cite unnamed sources in wild conspiracy stories.

actually your the one who has manipulated my words to insinuate that a woman cant be vp because she has a family and is a mother. if you go back and look yes i do think that she should take care of her family and i do think she is ignoring her responsibilities as a parent but that doesnt mean she wouldnt be a good candidate and have the proper skills to be a VP it just means she is a career woman over all. what i was questioning is whether or not that baby is hers and what that would mean to her CHARACTER and how we would feel about her pre election. and i dont care who it is conservative or not a lie is a lie is a lie liberal, conservative, nazi, or not. your trying to manipulate my words and put a spin on the topic.

and no actually work is not work. working at a construction site takes an entirely different set of skills than being a computer programmer the only thing they have in common is that a wage is exchanged for services rendered. being a parent and working a regular job has an entirely different set of skills and consequences than being a vice president and having kids... especially five of them.. being a politician takes just as much time off the clock and lots more time off of the clock than a civillian job and if you think differently your kidding yourslef. my grandfather was the mayor of a small town and he spent a rediculous amount of time dealing with problems of the city as opposed to problems in his family.. im sorry but while you do make some good points your argument is not sound.

Wow..

I'm gonna probably get attacked for my stance, but I guess stay at home mothers are always pitted against working mothers- and there is a bit of tension, I don't care what anyone says. She doesn't HAVE to work outside the home, he husband works as well- she ChOOses to work, she chooses to be away from her children. I'm sorry, but that just kills me personally, I could never do that- I don't need a job outside the home to fulfill some kind of 'empty void' or to feel adequate. Women's rights or not. (how come that phrase is always used to rip apart the family structure, abortion, the reason to not be around to raise your kids) Anyways, Palin seems like a nice women thus far, though the thing that has bothered me the most since McCain announced her as his running mate, and no one has mentioned is that she went back to work 3 DAYS after having the baby, 3 days. With a special needs child at that! Every doctor will tell you that first week being with the baby is critical, that's the most important bonding time.

Michelle Obama has been parading as some perfect mother as well, and that also makes me sick after her choosing to be a working mother then stating that as long as Barak and her were there to tuck their children in, the children could care less where they are. Sorry, but I call bullshit- and personally have little respect for parents who act or think this way.. I have no respect for parents who parade around the fact they are parents like some kind of badge of honor then choose not to be a part of their children's life- I see it as a form of using their children and am disgusted by it.. honestly, I could care less what criticism I receive for my beliefs- that's how I see it.

I addressed the Muslim thing. Obama was born a Muslim. This is undisputed. Therefore not a lie. I also said he converted to Christianity and I said I believed him.

Never said any of those other things and I challenge you to prove otherwise.

And your argument is blunted by the fact that you ignore Equal Protection as guaranteed under the Constitution. A woman has the right to become VP regardless of her status as a mother. No buts. No exceptions. These rights apply to all of us or none of us.

And you seem willing to accept it in spite of the fact you repeat that it may not be true.

If true, an example of a family relying on itself rather than looking to the government. This would make her more approachable because it is a story many Americans have seen personally.

If untrue. A lie meant to discredit her.

A lie. Bill Clinton lied about an affair with an employee. Hillary Clinton lied about missing FBI files. Obama lied about accepting Federal Election Funding. John Edwards lied about being a baby daddy. Joe Biden lied when he plagarized the words of another and claimed them as his own. Democrats appear to love liars.
Please.........don't forget all the lies by the bush regime, I think they are much more pertinent to our country's dillemas.

One is not born a muslim or a christian, they are born free spirits and are only labled by idiots that think a newborn would know what he/she is. You can't be born a muslim, you can be born into a muslim family, but that doesn't make you a muslim. Religion is a choice one makes when they reach the age of reason, unless they are brainwashed, which happens, but still, you can't be born a muslim, period.

Your denial of this fact is very telling. The Islamic world disagrees with your assessment, period.

I gave examples of Democrat lies, including the topic of this thread.

Yours is a bold statement with no examples. I'm especially interested in how the 'lies' are connected to 'dilemmas.' Enlighten me.

I have said many time before that Dubya is a liberal's wet dream, except for the War. If he is a liar, as you seem to think, you should love him. As I stated before Democrats seem to embrace, even revere, liars.

Alaskan Governor's child may be her daughter's? - iReport.com

I hope someone investigates this. If proven true, your guy is toast

The nation has been abuzz today with talk of Sarah Palin, John McCain's surprise vice-presidential pick. The internet and news media exploded in the hours following the announcement.

Along with all the stories making their way through the news cycle is one regarding Trig Palin, her youngest child. Apparently, there has been suspicion, some reported through Alaskan media outlets even before the Vice Presidential buzz, that the child actually belongs to her daughter, Bristol Palin. Normally this would be a personal issue, but this becomes a public matter because of Sarah Palin's stance against abortion and birth control, promoting 'abstinence only' beliefs.
The story seems ludicrious, and surely the GOP workers that vetted her would have stopped McCain from choosing her if anything like this were true. Only, now it has come out that Governor Sarah Palin was not vetted properly. The McCain camp states that they didn't feel it was necessary.
Even if it is entirely false and ludicrous, people are talking about it, and are quite interested in it. It has cropped up on a number of liberal and conservative blogs and sites. One Republican blog pre-empted the rumors, urging people to support Governor Palin "no matter what happens." It is absurd to believe Barack Obama is a Muslim, but that hasn't stopped 10% to 15% of America believing it is true. It remains to be seen if this story will sprout legs. So far, no media outlet has outright disproved the rumor (which should be very easy to do), though the Anchorage Daily News has reported the rumor.

The believers have a few scattered points:

1. Bristol Palin left school for an extended period of time, due to mononucleosis according to her family for the last 4-5 months of Trig's pregnancy. Some classmates claimed later that they had seen Bristol Palin pregnant.

2. Sarah Palin did not reveal to anyone outside her family that she was pregnant until 8 months into her pregnancy. Even then, she showed no signs of pregnancy. Alaskan news outlets commented on this, but did not go further. There are pictures of her at Super Tuesday (just a month before the baby was born).

Baby news strikes a chord: Politics | adn.com

She is notably a very trim woman, so it would likely be difficult to hide a pregnancy.

3. There are supposed photos showing Bristol Palin having gained weight, possibly significantly so in the abdomen. I haven't been able to verify these.
4. Sarah Palin went into labor in Dallas just before she was due to deliver a keynote address at the Republican Governors' Energy Conference, and flew to Seattle, then Alaska while still in labor.

newsminer.com • Palin says she felt safe flying to Alaska to have baby

Supposedly, she was in labor during the 8 hour flight, and the crew and attendants did not know.

There has been a sudden increase in the rumors about Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin’s youngest child, Trig Palin, about whether the baby belongs to her or to her daughter Bristol Palin.

These suspicions have been circulating for quite some time in Alaskan media outlets and now it has increased nationwide after her vice president nomination. When I read this story at iReport and Daily Kos, I couldn’t believe it and it looked more like a National Enquirer story initially. But they have provided a number of pictures and videos, along with various article links, which makes one to believe it or even explore it further.

Sarah Palin has been a staunch opponent against abortion and birth control and promoting any “abstinence only” policies.

This story has not been covered by any major media outlets except for Palin’s native newspaper, Anchorage Daily News. The story goes like this:

1.) Bristol Palin left school on an extended leave during the last 4 to 5 months of Trig’s pregnancy. The parents gave mononucleosis as the reason for the absence. But some classmates claimed they had seen Bristol Palin pregnant. There are also some photos in Daily Kos article, which clearly looks like Bristol is pregnant, while her mother looks normal.

2.) Sarah Palin didn’t announce her pregnancy to anyone until she was eight months pregnant. Her colleagues and friends were totally surprised because she showed no obvious signs of pregnancy. Alaskan news media reported this briefly but didn’t elaborate or investigate further. The government pictures of Sarah Palin doesn’t show any signs of pregnancy either.

3.) Sarah Palin in the video taken when she was five months pregnant said "I like running the hills, it kills me, that's why I like it, I mean it thrashes your guts..." Daily Kos responded with: “Not exactly terminology said by a pregnant mother”.

4.) Sarah Palin attended the National Governor’s Association at the White House, and the photos again show a trim Palin and she was six months pregnant at that time. Here is the high resolution picture of the group with Palin in the front row.

5.) A picture of Governor Palin at home with her family that was printed in the Anchorage Daily News, taken just six weeks before Trig's birth on March 9th. You can see the clear bump on Bristol but Sarah looks trim as usual.

6.) On Friday, April 18th, 2008, Sarah Palin, who was nearly ninth months pregnant, attended the Republican Governor’s Convention in Dallas, Texas along with her husband Todd Palin. Sarah Palin was the keynote speaker address on energy policy. Supposedly, early Friday morning at 4:00 am Sarah began leaking amniotic fluid. But she didn’t go to the hospital, instead called her doctor and delivered the keynote speech as arranged.

Wall Street Journal reported this episode:

Gov. Palin's opted to board a jet from Dallas in April while about to deliver a child. Gov. Palin, who was eight months pregnant, says she felt a few contractions shortly before she was to give a keynote speech to an energy summit of governors in Dallas. But she says she went ahead with it after her doctor in Alaska advised her to put her feet up to rest. "I was not going to miss that speech," she says.

She rushed so quickly from the podium afterwards that Texas Gov. Rick Perry nervously asked if she was about to deliver the baby then. She made it to the airport, and gave birth hours after landing in Anchorage to Trig, who is diagnosed with Down Syndrome. "Maybe they shouldn't have let me fly, but I wasn't showing much so they didn't know," she says.

But pregnant women are not supposed to fly in an airplane when they are 7 or more months during the term. She didn’t notify the Alaskan Airline authorities and the crew about her pregnancy. Supposedly, she was in labor during the 8 hour flight, neither the flight crew nor the attendants knew about it or saw any signs from her.

Caroline Boren, Alaskan Airlines representative told Newsminer:

“Governor Palin was extremely pleasant to flight attendants and her stage of pregnancy was not apparent by observation as she didn’t show any signs of distress,”
It is an extremely risky behavior, but Palin continued the flight and traveled more than eight hours from Dallas to Alaska.

7.) Three days after pregnancy, Palin is back to work as usual.

Both the articles have more points and links for further reference.

If this story is true then Sarah Palin would have tried to hide her unmarried daughter’s pregnancy and claim it as her own, since she favors neither abortions nor birth control. The McCain campaign should have investigated this story before they chose her as VP, now it is too late. Did somebody in their campaign miss it by rushing the decision? Will the McCain camp or the media verify this story?

Says it wasn't active labor- there would have been almost zero pain. Minor 'braxton hicks' contractions happen frequently during the last month of pregnancy. So no surprise if the staff didn't notice her in much pain.

But with the water breaking, the baby has to be born within 24 hours to prevent the risk of infection- an 8 hour flight seems really risky. I come from a semi big family, my mother has 4 kids, grandmother has 4, other grandmother has 3- it's well known that with each subsequent birth the labor is usually shorter and shorter- my brother, who was my mom's 4th, came 15 mins after getting to the hospital- only 3 hours of labor total. An 8 hour flight for a 5th kid with no Dr. on board jus seems weird to me..

it would be highly unlikely for a 16 year old to have a down syndrome child...
Not at all..................
Down syndrome is a chromosomal abnormality characterized by the presence of an extra copy of genetic material on the 21st chromosome, either in whole (trisomy 21) or part (such as due to translocations). The effects of the extra copy vary greatly among people, depending on the extent of the extra copy, genetic history, and pure chance. Down syndrome occurs in all human populations, and analogous effects have been found in other species such as chimpanzees[5] and mice. Recently, researchers have created transgenic mice with most of human chromosome 21 (in addition to the normal mouse chromosomes).[6] The extra chromosomal material can come about in several distinct ways. A typical human karyotype is designated as 46,XX or 46,XY, indicating 46 chromosomes with an XX arrangement typical of females and 46 chromosomes with an XY arrangement typical of males.[7]

Trisomy 21

Trisomy 21 (47,XX,+21) is caused by a meiotic nondisjunction event. With nondisjunction, a gamete (i.e., a sperm or egg cell) is produced with an extra copy of chromosome 21; the gamete thus has 24 chromosomes. When combined with a normal gamete from the other parent, the embryo now has 47 chromosomes, with three copies of chromosome 21. Trisomy 21 is the cause of approximately 95% of observed Down syndromes, with 88% coming from nondisjunction in the maternal gamete and 8% coming from nondisjunction in the paternal gamete.[8

So desperate to believe it. Sad really.

Jeremia Wright - True
Barak Hussein Obama born a Muslim - True

Can't take it? I don't recall any outrage at this pathetic attempt, just derision.

I don't see any Republicans complaining. Just laughing.

Even if Republicans take exception to a lie, what's the problem? Oh yeah, Democrats love liars.
