hey man. you are tackling a pretty tough project. growing MJ, alone, with tons of light and space is much easier than smaller operations. In the case of a PC you can't get smaller. Things to consider are ventilation/air circluation, light, temp, soil, watering/nutes...To begin, and i think someone mentioned this already, you need sufficient light in order to produce buddage worth all the hasle you are going through. I reallly doin't think the 2 cfls are going to be enough in flower. However, adding more light is going to start messing with temps. A good way to manage this is add a makeshift cooltube. this can be done using a plexi glass sheet just below the lights, creating a barrier from the light and plants. If you add an exhaust at the top, and leave a gap in the plexi glass at the opposite end of the PC, you get your cooltube.

Next, by having constant air circulating, you are going to dry your soil quicker. Getting the biggest pots in there without wasting too much height can combat that. A great way is to use tupperwear that has been blacked out. You can find nice rectangular tupperwear to make pots out of and you will drastically increase soil volume.

Training the plant also needs to be happen. You can count on the plant at least doubling in height in flowering. If oyu dont train, you'll have to flower a plant that is only a few inches tall, and end with piddly little buds. Training can be done in multiple ways...LST, topping, scrog. Personally, to maximize quality buddage, i belive the scrog is the best method.

just a few things.

here is a link to my pc case grow i did a little while back. i vegged in my other box but flowered under a 70watt hps https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/164898-pc-scrog-6-week-flower.html

i am so glad football has started again

u r a huge help, i swear to god i have everything u mentioned and my seeds r germinating as we speak, they should be ready sometime tomorrow or the following day. i had 2 sprouts already but they didnt do so well due to lack of light. u seem to REALLY know whats up and i give u mad props, i was wondering, what do u suggest i use for veg lighting right now, the cfls seem to work but not that efficently with my setup.... any suggestions?

ps i also know all about low stress trainging but i never heard of this scrog training that u mentioned

i never thought of a cool tube:wall: thanks pst times.
oh and organic 420. do use the internals of your pc to keep your fans running or you wired them up to an outlet.
just wanted to know which give more power?

yeah i rigged up a cool tube with a piece of clear plastic and i wired the fans to an outlet. the intake fan has 12 volts running to it and the exhaust fan has 5 volts running to it, i was thinking about switching them and making the exhaust fan stronger

yea the exhaust should be stronger to take out all that bad heat.
and how thick was your plastic? did it melt or anything?

i was wondering what i should use for veg lighting that will not produce as much heat? i made a cool tube like u suggested but my box is still around 85 degrees

You need to sort out your temps before you upgrade the light. You have enough for the time being.
Do you use the top fan as the exhaust?
You took a pic through the front of the case. Is that usually sealed or does it let air in? Same with that side pic, does the vent with the writing on it let air in or out?

the front i can i can open and close just to look inside the box, that part lets a little air in but not much and the went on the side i opened up so air could get out to try and bring the temp down.
thats were im confused, should i seal off all the holes and the side vent?

i just looked at ur setup and im very jealous. i thought u might want to know that i have to keep my case in a cabinet that has poor ventilation and that is why my temp is so high but idk what to do to fix it because i cant open it up anymore that what it is and i cant let light shine through

hey guys, sorry i haven't respded. been a long weekend already and still have tomorrow off. anyway, top fan should be outtake. i had an intake below the glass too but it dried everything too much (couldn't control how much power wnet to it though). My plexi glass is probably about 1/8th inch. It never bowed or warped.

SCROG is screen of green. Basically you just use a screen to tie the plant to as it tries to grow taller. Keeps all the buds level. I topped my plant when it had4 nodes then flowered a couple days later and it filled the screnn.

I like CFLs for veg. you can have the plants practically touching the lights

Tuning the airflow is a bit of trial and error, but if heat is a major issue then I'd prolly start by blocking up the vent on the side and turning the rear fan around so it acts as an exhaust. Keep the top fan as an exhaust too.
Sounds like you have 5v going to the rear fan and 12v going to the top. Maybe try using the 12v feed for both fans.
With luck, the front will allow enough air in to replace all the air being exhausted. Test this by feeling the fan output with the case open and then with it closed. If the flow is the same out of the fans then the air is being replaced. If it's reduced then you will need another vent or intake to balance it out.

thanks man, i think im gonna use the scrog method for my first time since i have my rack setup the way it is. i just wanted to know if 2 26 watt cfls r enough to start 2 sprouts?.... i just planted them today, they were beautiful looking sprouts with hairs all over them

thats a good idea, i thought of that before but i didnt know if i had to have an intake fan or not or if i could just use both fans as exhaust fans. im gonna try what u suggested and see if the temp goes down at all, its at about 82-85 degrees right now so hopefully that will work. thanks for ur help

you have about 3000 lumens with both of those cfl. you need at least 2500 lumens per sq foot. so just calculate how big your space is.
