Personal closet grow in New England

All my seeds were collected over time, given from friends, a pack here or there, so most aren't fem and don't come with their info. I've got in my fridge some Chemdog IBL and Chemwreck as well as the nlxskunk, dreamlotus and more Raskal. Sadly for my situation the Raskal is all that's labeled fem.

I'm seed shopping now but can't choose! I'd like to grow some black cream for the smell and color and I'd really love to grow some biddy early. It was one of my favorite smokes and a wonderful plant but I think it's a bit big for what I've got going. :/

I've got to get a second space running.

I've recently received some regs. and I haven't learn to weed out the males, butt with fem. W.W.,Chem. Dawg,C99,AK48,TrainWreck,the regs will have to wait.Part of my grow is in a closet and every time the grandkids and religious son and wife come over it's unplug and close the closet tight. But this time there will also be some scrogging going on and it's hard to hide that much smell.Oh well, gotta get the power man's money some way..:hump: Hang in there and you'll soon get it all together...:weed:

That's pretty funny Worcester. My dad is a pastor, but I told him early on. I hate keeping secrets with my family and friends. (I didn't feel that way when I lived in a much less accepting state of mj. It was a big secret then.)

Before Christmas we had some workers come over to the house for the landlords. We unplugged for an hour, covered it in blankets and put a sign that said, "don't look! Christmas gift!" Then we cooked some fancy, thick bacon for the smell.

Have you ever grown your chemdawg out yet? I'm pretty sure my chemdawg ibl is reg, but I love chem and am considering some fem chem d seeds.

Yes I have grown out the chem dawg, from HSO.It was some of the best I've had,in so far as taste, size of bud and yield. This is coming from a T-5 8 bulb set up.I wish I had scrogged it,butt next time.:hump: Trainwreck, from HSO, was da best. Both are femmed and produced about the same yield. The more I vaped the Trainwreck, the more fooped up I got.So many seeds,so little space.I get all my seeds from Attitude. As of late, their C.C. system has been fooped up for some people. The two seed types I mentioned, have been the closets to donkey dicks, that I have grown.I miss them, butt I have mad love for W.W.I never did build up a tolerance for the high.It just kept fooping me up,until one day...she was gone:wall:...Yes, I have limited space too, butt the regs must be delt with one day because I picked up some Black Widow and it only comes in regs.I will learn.bongsmilieHang in there...

Cool can't wait to grow some chemdawg out someday. I've been holding off on growing that chemwreck b/c I don't love train wreck. It always finishes with a sharp headache for me. :/ I'm real obsessed with a plant called Biddy Early (serious seeds, Magnus genetics). I don't have the space for her yet, maybe this spring though. It's super easy and is one of my fave smells/highs. My plants smelled of oranges and citrus and survived the wettest season ever outdoor (not in pots, straight in clay that I tilled some fox farm into and top dressed with organic stuffs) while my jack herrer got bud rot. It's more popular abroad but would grow well outdoors in New England I think. It was definitely my favorite to grow yet.

I grew a couple ww a few years back, not in a tent. They got big on me. That might have been my first grow. I had to harvest early and it was still decently potent and a lot of wheeze in my jars.

Btw sexing your plant is easy. Look for small hairs on your preflowers. That's a girl. Crab claw looking preflower indicates male,if you let it go he'll make a banana like set of flowers. Use a loupe to look. My Raskal preflowers are huge but others are tiny. Does anyone know if that indicates yield?

Thank you.My problem is space.I'm in a two bedroom apartment, with two light setups, one 8tubex4',one 6tubex4'.Sexing takes time that I'd rather be growing, buttt I'll have to conform sooner or later..I've recently got into more reg. seeds than fems.:hump:

Cool, ya I hear your space concerns. It's definitely frustrating to put all that space and vegging time into finding males. Do you have a thread I can check yr plants out at?

Oh cats, thankfully mine don't like the taste but the sure do like the warmth. I've come back from mixing nutes many a time to find my cat sunning himself in my vegging closet.

I guess if you're worried about space, maybe all 1 gallon pots? A smaller root structure will make a smaller plant.

Other then that there is a product called BushLoad that stunts vertical growth, and ads quite a bit of weight. I feel I must tell you there is quite a bit of controversy around this product. There is a chemical in the product that has been linked to cancer, however, this usually means that when a lab rat is given 3x it's body weight in a chemical it had negative effects (duh). Some some growers (mostly California growers where everything causes cancer) will tell you it's the devil.

I personally don't use it anymore, but I have without any reservations and here is why: all plants if flushed properly shouldn't have nutrients still in them at any substantial level, organic or otherwise. Also, "nonorganic" nutrients is a little misleading, "chemical" nutrients are refined organic nutrients. Nutrients, organic or otherwise, aren't just pulled from the air, just like pharmaceutical pills were once tree bark.

I think it would probably be a characteristic of strain not yield, but who knows...

Nw grower, thx for jumping in on my thread! Makes sense about non organic nutrients.

My first grows we're hydro with GH....I just found it doesn't fit my style and once I put plants into actual dirt I fell in love with the taste and process. That's also one reason I try to avoid non organic and preferably plant derived nutrient sources, taste. I often love outdoor grown herb, even if it's less potent I'll buy that over some dense ass hydro grown herb. (I'll get that too!) I am admittedly cautious regarding chemicals I don't fully understand since there are many linked to cancer and lesser evils. At the same time, some of the soil mixes and top dressings from fox farm I've used in the past have had scary warnings from the state of CA.

I hear a lot of opinions on pot size and height to flower, which is why on this grow I staggered my planting dates and tried a couple sizes. I wanted to see which made sense most to me. In a one gallon could I expect to get about 3/4 or more of an oz ea plant in soil?

Coca-cola recently changed its recipe because CA says some coloring (when given to lab rats in ridiculous amounts) causes cancer.

I hear you on taste, to each their own.

Hydro has a lot of space advantages in that you can feed a very large plant in a very small pot if you feed it often enough. But as you've said, you're not into it, and I respect that.

Not ripping on CA either. They grow fire. I'm in the NW now but grew up down their and still know lots of growers who can put their outdoor up against any indoor I've ever seen. You can't beat the sun. A lot of people are doing hybrid hydro outdoor grows to kick up their density and "bag appeal".

Ya, I've heard a lot of stuff about growing in greenhouses with supplemental light and light dep for flowering. I'd love to have a very small scale version of that for my own needs, but sadly the medical industry where I live isn't keen on outdoor growing. I definitely used to judge my weed by its looks and density more. Now I don't really care if it's dense or fluffy or whatever. I think of buds like any other veggie or flower. My fave tomatoes are the fat ugly heirlooms from someone's yard.

I'm down to try most folks tomatoes though, so to speak. I also am definitely humble regarding what I know, knowing that there are many others who understand more and have way more experience.

Thanks blowincherrypie for weighing in! I don't have a filter as I'm legal and rather remote. I work from home and no one really comes over but family and close friends...most of which don't smoke and don't care. I probably need one though for the random landlord visit. Currently I fry up bacon. Ha. I'm worried the loss in cfm will make my heat rise and I'm being frugal...don't want to buy a bigger fan.
Thats pretty good, fry bacon :) nice!

I don't have a thread, butt da wife took some great pictures of my 1st w.w. grow. Now if I can only figure out how to down load them from the computer. My computer kungfu is pretty weak.Butt I have been using the 1 gal. pots for the last 3 grows. I feel it's cutting back on my yield because some of the root developments have been thick= still learning how not to let them veg. too long and flower too long.:wall: = still learning dammit..Butt Iz loves my new found growing addiction.:hump: When I got my license from the canna Dr., he said I could grow out side legally if I kept them below the height of the fencing. Butt,Iz lives in an apartment,so that's out. I'm learning to become a mad grow Dr. with the limitations I have.:weed: Then they raise the power bill by 37%. I'm still in da fight, thanks to some of our fellow growers on this site.:leaf:;-)

image.jpg Here's a photo from this morning as an update. All girls left, all with very identifiable pres. You can see my top leaves on the larger Raskal plants have been droopy. They look a bit better after watering and a foliar feeding. When I added that second pot my nlxskunk is sitting in I only filled it with super soil (mass whole, 1st amendment soils aka 5 pepper mix I think) so I'm not feeding that plant yet. I haven't found the soil to be as hot as they think it will be. At this point I'd even try planting my nlxskunk straight in the super soil I buy from them. They seem to be happy with the extra juice.

Today I gave them a medium light mix of Posiedozyme (liquid kelp) and a calcium supplement. I also sprayed them with the kelp. I'll probably get back to feeding my big plants the Gaia mania as well a few more times. I also added some super soil to the tops of the pots because roots were getting exposed when I watered.

Last feeding I didn't ph my water. This feeding I did. I'm wondering if that's my leaf droop or if they were just a bit dry. I don't know, I've heard/read conflicting opinions on ph and water for soil, so......

I took everyone's advice and ordered a 2x4 grow tent, ewc for some tea and some other assorted goods. That should be here soon. I'm going to switch to 12/12 tonight or tomorrow before the other tent arrives I think. I'm pretty relaxed about it all, perhaps I should've already switched. Have I missed the boat on lsting these girls?

My plants had looked a bit limp for a bit and we're grabbing some purplish stems. I thought they were overwatered so I let them be for a couple days. They got worse and didn't grow too much, so clearly I was wrong. Today I gave them nutes and water and they are already looking much nicer. I also added a lil cfl facing up into the foliage. Now I'm just watching 'em grow.

So with my bigger tent coming I'm already dreaming of seeds for the future. I've got my eyes on dj short blueberry, sensi star(spring maybe outdoor), biddy early and black cream autos.

I had to leave for four days for my business so my mom watered my plants!!! So I was worried. Anyway, I came home to tons of growth and lots of green! Thx mom. We're on day 8 of flower I believe. My 2x4 tent is still not here, so my 2x2 is crammmmmmmed. Here they are after watering today. I have to say that I have definitely noticed that my plants seem to like the Nectar for the Gods nutes. I bumped up the dosage to more than the minimum recommended, but not by much. My skinnier Raskal had shown the beginnings of nute burn weeks ago but never fully succumbed. Boner.

A couple things happened in the first week of flowering, I got my second tent in the mail (80$ on amazon) and I realized I had one more male. :/

At least I've got a space to separate him now. I'm keeping the boy and collecting his pollen for fun. It's so happy looking I want him to live.

I've sunk a couple of nlxskunk seeds in a cup of well water today, I have a bunch so I experiment with them. I'll put them in used soil with some extra ewc added. Maybe they'll be nice. Maybe I'll eat them as salad. I also ordered some feminized seeds, so soon I'll be planting some Biddy Early and Motavation. Both are by Serious Seeds. I'm excited for that. Has anyone grown motavation? I've grown out biddy early and love the strain. I wanted to grow Serious Happiness but I read conflicting grow reports and I want something stable for my next cycle since I only grow a few plants at a time.

I need more light and a filter for real!
