my opinion:

first test your plain tap water.
if it's under 200 ppm, add cal-mag to ~200 ppm then add your nutes to ~750 ppm.
if it's over 200 ppm, just forget the cal-mag and add your nutes to ~750 ppm.

finally, adjust your pH. i recommend the drops that change color. look for a nice pee-yellow with maybe a tinge of asparagus green. i find pH meters to be very finicky.

undoubtedly someone will chime in here with their own opinions. ultimately you're gonna have to try what works for you and your plants/water/nutes. you'll figure it out man just keep on going.

Make a soil slush to check pH, the drainage is not a good idea and will NOT show rhizosphere pH which is what you really want to see.

Don't get overly "technical", don't give plants stuff they don't ask for and do use the correct methods for testing.

There is a proper procedure for every occasion and there are also band-aid methods that don't teach you shit.

After a two hour long weight lifting session are you going to listen to the guy who said just eat some mcdonalds or the guy who said almonds,salmon & some quinoa?

If you care, do it right & take the right advice which was given but ignored in this thread.

Haha I like that analogy! Ate salmon and brocoli after my work today lol. So what was the right advice that was given?

This is very true.
One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is thinking there's a "secret recipe" and chase every tip and new product that's trending.

Fishermen fall for the same shit.

The reality is that there is no one-size-fits-all approach because there are many factors to consider.

Ever feel like you've got everything dialed in, then grow a strain that breaks all the rules?

Growers need to learn the fundamentals so they can apply them in different situations to achieve success.

Shortcuts do not work. You might get lucky once in a while, but if you don't understand what's going on, success & failure are random.

Those who understand your growing environment before making a conclusion are more likely to be a better help.

Different folks do have different strokes which is expected from one environment to the other but imhe not to be confused with band-aid fixes.

The issue is when people get tangled between different growing environments & styles (water only soil,bottle fed soil,coco,genes,sealed room,hid,led ect) and try to apply it all at once..

For example,
If you constantly get nutrient locks from bad ratios and always fix it with a flush then you'll never really learn how to fix it.

Id guess underfert not over but i cant tell unless it was grown by me.

Generally with underfert other lower leaves especially fans die off, stems turn purple especially those in the light, moisture stress like wilt and stuff.

Overfert gives me more golden crisped up edges and stufg.

That said many over and under ferts produce similar stresses, i gave up with the grow advice as a lot of it i would have to have grown the plant to know its history.

After a few waters i can generally induce deficiency then simply pick up the ferts from there and learn a leasson for the next grow.

My answers probably mean a loss of yeild but greater skills in the long run.

Lets face it the info on this forum is so diluted, few have cracked which is why there is such disagreement...

Looks like I need some cal mag and maybe even less nutes. Gonna try that next after the flush dries. Trial and error.

I use one bottle of ferts and a bag of potting soil, all else is irrelevant for the yeilds i need.

Yloll never get better with calmag and shite, just find a fert that works and work on getting that perfect, simples. Ive been to some dark places with calmag, never again :-)
