plants at 24 days..first grow. do they look good?

hey there everyone..my plants were yellowing a bit before but i think they look like there getting better after i flushed them out, but still they look like the tips are curling..i just got my 400w hps light do you think maybe its to close? its about 3ft above plants..im running the light at 18/6. and they are 24 days old and about 6-7 inchs tall..im going to give them 1/4 strength nutrients(organic iguana juice grow) in about 24 hrs or once soil gets dry from washiing..so basically i was just wondering does it seem like im doing everything ok scince it my first time im not to sure yet..also what do u think of the plants and is the light to close?. looking forward to see what use think and to improve my grow thanks alot.

how big was it 3 weeks ago? i've had my plants for about 3weeks but they were 3 inches when i got em...how big is ur pot? water it less i'd say..i got a 3gallon pot that i only water every 4days. try to just water them once every 3 days, i think that will help u cuz u gotta make ur roots work for that water to grow ur plant. i had the same problem at first but i started watering less and my plant took off>>

umm 3 weeks ago they were like 2 inches tall prolly very small still..yah i prolly water to much i will let it go for a while but the next time i water i will be mixing in some nutes..but thanks so much for the info!

and o yah my pot is prolly atleast 3 gallons too maybe less

and are your plants bigger scince they are about the same age..also do you have a fan that blows ur plants..how hard should they blow and what type of light are u using.. and do u have like a crazy ventilation syastem and all the expensive shit..cuz all i have is a 400w hps with a fan to blow the plants but i keep the closet doors open so they get good air circulation..i dont have much cash but i dont want my plants to die cuz im not getting all the stuff i need??

nice looking plants. maybe a little small. i use nutes after a week of growing. maybe that will help. here is my current plants at 25 days. good luck

holy shit man..i want mine to be like that..when should i use my nutes..do i wait till soil is comletly dry or can i do it when its still wet..i already used it once but i used to muchand i think it got nute burn so i put them in new pots and flushed them..that was like 2 days ago..i am just waiting to figure out when i should give them a nut water mix. if u could maybe help me out that would be awesome man thanks!!

i started my nutes after the 2nd node. use less than more. wait till your soil is dry to about 1" down.

ur plant is in soil not hydro it wont look like that homeboy i think u just need to water it once every 3 days and put ur light 12inchs away its to far away

ur plant still looks coo its just growing slow so just do what i said and i swear you will see more rapid growth

they seem a bit small for 24 days,you need to get your light closer tbh,maybe 18-24 inches(12inch is too close for a 400w...i have 6 ww at 21 days old from seed in my journal,my avatar is a ww at 20 days old from seed.

All in all, your plants look okay. Here's a couple things to get them moving faster:

Your plants look like they've been overwatered and your light is too far away. Getting your light down will help you get some of that water off, too. Get your light down to about 8-12" over the plants. Stop watering until the first inch of soil is dry on top. Before you water again, lift the pot up to get a good feel of the weight. Water thoroughly (but not ponded up on top) and lift again -- you'll feel a big difference. A moisture meter is really helpful too -- the little $5 probe kind. Water when your meter falls to about a 4-5 and don't argue with what it says.

Your pots look like 2-gallon to me. Measure the width and height == a 10"x10" pot is 2 gallons. I assume those things have drain holes, right?

What soil are you using? If it's a pre-fertilized potting soil, there's no way you need to add any nutes at this point.

Respectfully disagree on the 12" too close.. I've had my 400W 6-12" off my tops all along; no problems. No special air circulation either. I just set up a cheap fan and direct the flow to pass right under the bulb.

yea that was my opinion,im growing in a dr100 so sometimes think that everbody faces the same probs as me for heat issues...i stand corrected and totally blame the weed im smoking

as soon as i posted it i reached for the edit button,instead i grabbed the ashtray haha

yup yup but just so u guys know i used a 400w b4 and it was like 10 inches away and grew great the only reason i moved it further away was to try n stretch the plant cuz it was hella bushy now i got a 600w 2ft away

12 inch? its hps wont it get to hot for the little guys??

For me 12inch would be like dropping an atomic bomb on them.i have a12inch 3 speed and a 6inch 2 speed mini fan running and can keep a comfortable 78f at 18inches high.

No way... Now, I assume you do have something set up for air circulation? If your light is ducted and exhausted, no worries. If not, set a small fan up so the breeze passes right below the bulb, and you're set.

One thing you do want to keep in mind, though: getting that light closer in is going to take water out of your pots much faster than your current set up, so pay attn' to the watering. Some ppl like to put a single layer of hydroton on the top of their soil -- reduces how much water your light pulls off the pots.
