Plants not looking too good

Wow man. I totally disagree. Bigger pots grows way bigger plants. At least in soil. I start clones in 1/2 gal pots and transfer to 15 gals. They get big really fast after they get transplanted into their new homes.

And if you have enough aeration overwatering isn't much of an issue.
I think you misunderstood.
I agree that bigger pots grow bigger plants in soil..........I never said otherwise.
I was talking about the difficulty for beginners to water a seedling in a large pot.........like the OP........not an issue for you because you're experienced.
I see you start in 1/2 gallon pots and transplant........so do I.

Bigger pots are not the problem.........the problem is the difficulty for beginners to maintain the proper water to oxygen ratio in the medium.
My advice to start in smaller pots was for the beginner OP.........I'm sure you're a good grower and experienced on the correct way to water.
However, I find that over watering is one of the main mistakes that newbies make........starting in smaller pots makes it easier for them.

If I had a dollar for every grower here with plant in a 5 gallon pot wondering why it's so small and not growing...........I'd be a millionaire.
Just saying.
Haha we must be in alternate universes. Everyone comes to me with rootbound, bone dry plants in solo cups or 1 gal pots and all their problems were solved by using a decent amount of medium. We must know polar opposites when it comes to growers lol. I find the medium consistency and aeration is more important than pot size. If your medium drains well, you can't Overwater.

For example, this gets watered daily out of interest, to runoff and it's a peat blend. If I did that with pre mixed soil my plants would be dead. I do some crazy weird watering schedules from watering daiky, to watering once a week, and I've never had a seriously issued plant, so it's interesting to see how out of whack people's watering can be.

Funny how two people can have completely different experiences. Shows how much user error accounts for in this game. Sounds like I know more forgetful or lazy growers instead of the usual over-enthusiastic water too often type.
