Platinum LED

I'm curious to know how your Platinum LED's have been working since you first got them. All my research shows that the new P900's are very good regarding light spectrum, PAR and overall quality. Thoughts?

Your research must be based off their false advertising then. New member and you didn't quote anyone. Are you another attempt by platinum led to have a good name on this forum? They suck ok platinum led is trash
 
I am a grower, not a sales rep. My research is from multiple sources: 3rd party, existing growers, review. With any company, there are pro's and cons. Just trying to filter through the comments. Why is your opinion are they terrible? What would you recommend?

They're another china pannel led using epistar leds. The efficiency is worse than HID. They try to advertise that spectrum is special to detract from their shitty leds. They're making a huge profit off those leds.

Timber grow lights
Tasty leds
Northern grow lights

All great to name a few non bullshit companies.
 
Platinum, mars hydro, Amazon/ebay led....they are all basically the same. Other than mars says they are in China. The point of all the harsh talk is there are better leds out there that are highly efficient. I mean why not get more light per watt from the wall. Why not get all the red/ blue that those lights create and all the other colors in between, like extra light. White led is the way to go.
 
Even if you dont like DIY type fixtures theres loads of legit commercial companies making great lights for < $2/W.
 
None but I'm thinking of companies like Heilospectra and fluence who have clearly built their own lights designed for large scale commercial use.
 
Any suggestions for either a brand or specific product for supplemental lighting? Im running a 600w MH/HPS in a 4.5x4.5x4.5 tent, and I need more coverage. My budget is kind of tight; so I am not sure if I will have any options in this regard, but I'd like to add at least another 200 watts, and have a budget of about 200$ (but am willing to go a bit higher if the product fits my needs). Or am I better off just temporarily using compact flouro's for supplemental lighting for a crop or two until I have some more $ at hand? Thx for reading everyone.
 
Don't listen to these people's opinions on platinum I ran a P150 which is their lowest here's what I'm getting from it, I find it funny that people claim kind is the best yet the videos of them testing their products they show no evidence on why they're better only that they state "it's clear why were the best" obviously not when platinum literally par tested their lights compared to Kind LEDs and it draws better wattage and Par

Seeing how people keep bumping this thread, I thought I'd finally get around to sharing my Platinum customer service experience.

A couple of years ago, I needed a veg light to pre-veg some clones that I wanted to put outside for the summer. I already owned a couple of P-150s, and after reading some forums(I think it was 420mag), discovered that Platinum was offering custom veg spectrum versions of their lights "made to order". Awesome! I ordered one, and asked that they remove some of the red diodes and replace them with white and blue diodes. I received my light a week or so later, set it up in a small tent, and that was that. Or so I thought. The girls stretched quite a bit, but I didn't think much of it at the time, as they were going outside anyway. I took the light and tent down and packed them away.

This past summer, I decided to repeat this process and got similar results - a lot of stretch. So, I got one of my "standard" P-150s, turned it on, and took a pic of the diodes while on. I did the same thing with my "super custom veg" P-150. Guess what??? They had the exact same diodes - there was no difference between the two.

So I decided to email Platinum and ask them about it, knowing full well that any kind of refund/return would be out of the question.

The response: "First, we do not make “veg only” lights. We used to offer that option for a bit but found out that our existing lights worked better in veg than the veg only. So.. nothing shady there. We only sell one type of light so you received exactly what was ordered"


I responded calling bullshit on that, telling him that I had spoke with somebody on the phone and that a custom veg spectrum would be no problem. I also mentioned that a P-150 with the reds replaced with blues and whites would crush a regular P-150 in veg. All of a sudden - "oh yeah, we used to make veg spectrum lights.

"First, there’s no need to use language with us or get ugly. That doesn’t make anyone work any harder or faster or try to take care of you any better. In fact, the opposite at times. We’re all adults here so let’s be cool.
Second, we did some research and found emails from about a year and a half ago where we had the veg light conversation. This is when we were still making them on a custom order basis.. we are not anymore.. and we have not for quite some time. This is where the confusion came in. Regarding that order, you most definitely were shipped a veg light and we have the records for it. You have always received exactly what you have ordered every single time, rest assured."


My response: "Really? Is that why you guys sent me a light with exactly the same number/color of diodes as the 2 other 150s I own. How does that even make sense, I mean, at least here on planet earth. You sent me a "veg light" with the exact same diodes as my regular lights? Please explain this one to me.
My posts tomorrow are going to cost your company thousands. Should be a good time. You can lick all of my balls. Your company is going to be dead inside of a year or two.
And you know what? I just went back and reread my previous email to you - I'm convinced that using the word "bullshit" and calling you out on your shady-as-fuck business tactics doesn't mean I was "getting ugly". I'm just calling a spade a spade. Yeah, I know - it sucks to be called out when you were attempting to fuck somebody over. Sure - you guys sent me a "veg light" with the exact same diodes as my other 2 P150s - that makes perfect sense. WTF???"


They never emailed me back.
 
My older brother and I have been on a year long battle! After 3 successful grows a peace I can safely say the p600 is great replacement for a 600 w hps, btw I'm the hid user and my brother is the led user+ I have 4 year experience on him.

Now the p600 light looks like it doesn't penetrate past 20inches or so , but the results prove otherwise. While I'm a classic super cropper ,he lets them go with nothing special. It seems that the plants going through training on the LEDs have a harder time recovering vs. HIDs ,but when left alone a p600 can easily yeild a pound, that's 450gs for 345watts . The buds are about half the size of HIDs ,but the rock hard structure is unmatched! You will find that the p600 isn't a match for a 800w hps like it claims but it still produces as much as a 600w hps with a little less with in coverage , I find a 4x3 is max coverage with a p600 but a 4x2 would be better, remember when starting with new cuts or seedlings to keep the light at 36+ inches, and during flowering 12+ inches. The light comes with instructions for a reason, don't move the light closer becaus it seems you aren't getting light! Believe me a good 10-20% of the light isn't visible to the human eye
