Reproductive rights are an issue of growing importance and well past its best before date for the GOP. They can't change on a dime over this either or lie too much about it in the general election. A lot of their base is anti-abortion, many are single issue voters, and the prolife wing is powerful in the party. Who knows what the die hard Trumpers will do when he is imprisoned and eventually disqualified, if they nominate him. Some could just stay home if Trump isn't in the race, or maybe they will write him in and spoil their ballot.
In 2020 Trump pulled in about 10 million new voters I figure, and they might be the ones to stay home if he isn't in the race, which could mean a down ballot disaster for the GOP in 24.
