Pre-Flower LST/ SCROG Question

Hello everyone.

My first post here.

I planted these babies on 4/20 and they are currently showing signs of pre flowering.

I LST’d my plants so that they are about 8-9 inches tall currently with many topnodes but they’ve moved into pre-flower. Almost every node clearly showing pistils and they are starting to get a smell. There is still about 6 inches until my scrog first layer, should I release the LST’d branches at this point and run everything through the scrog? Keep the LST anchors and lower my scrog by a few inches or keep the LST anchors and Keep the scrog where its at?

So scrog is 19 inches from floor, plants in pots are 13 inches tall. I have another 53 inches above however the light minimum distance is 24 inches, and it hangs 4 inches. So really another 25 inches above my current scrog level.

I am growing Two white widow and two chocolate mint plants, very similar in their grow requirements, heights and lengths.

Current set up

315W CMH vivosun reflector
Flora bloom series for nutrients.
Mars Hydro 39x39x72 tent
15 gallon fabric pots filled 3/4 the way (about 12 gallon)
Soil, 70% promix veg 30% perlite
Temps are 22 at night 27 peak at day (usually sits at 26)
Humidity stays between 45 and 55%
I water on a 4 day if dry schedule, with p.h 6.5 water.

You've done a good job of developing a canopy, just too far below your screen. I'd leave the LST in place, let it go another week or 2 to get within 5 cm of the screen before flipping, then the stretch will fill your SCROG.

Thanks Ill give that a shot, theyre currently on pre flower nutrients, only did one wAter that way, should I go back to full veg or keep the pre flower nuts til flip? Its essentially just less N and a bit more K.

My first grow I didnt scrog or LST I did fimming and topping and I found the veg growth much much slower, the plants were really tiny and a lot weaker. I only got to fill about 30-40% of my canopy and of that 10% were good tops. Got 74g. I was also using blurples. This time around I’m hoping to fill 80-85% of the tent space.

Keep the veg nutes going until you flip. When they start stretching, keep pushing the tops below the screen until it's filled. If you wait a couple of weeks until flipping, you should get ~100% of your screen filled.

edit: Looking back at your original post, I note these girls are around 8 weeks old. They look healthy, but small for their age. Just an observation without more info. Maybe a bit too aggressive LST?

Ive waited 8 days now and about 70% is ready to touch the screen. We just got hit by a heatwave and i couldnt get them their own ac for a day so they wilted a bit yesterday. Its lights out right now ill upload a pic of how theyre doing in 5 hours

a few just poking through. Some stalk photos a little yellowing and wilt from the heatwave but most of thats getting cut away anyway once the screens full. Nice thick support structure on the plants, quite happy. We hit 38 degrees outside today and I kept the tent below 29.

Only have two 5000 btu acs for 4 rooms

At risk of making you repeat yourself, did you decided to keep flowering or did you keep a vegetative light cycle?

I wanted to mention that you need to account for your preflower stretch, if you haven’t already.

Show me a top down of your grid!

P.s. a common mistake is not filling up the whole area under the light. Use your net to STRETCH those limbs out laterally. It’s not supposed to be only a final flowering point, but a tool you use during preflower stretch to ensure a full canopy whenever possible. Maximize the light. When the buds come you will wish you filled those corners!

Vegging until theyve hhit through the screen then im flipping. I currently have 17 squared around the edges that still need a branch under them but a few in the centre that have 2-3 ready per sqaure just another 1 ish inches to hit the net.

Flip when they hit, and stretch them out to the farthest corners. Hopefully they will fill your whole canopy, stop, and start making flower for ya!

Flip lighting if you haven’t already, and stretch those tops out as much as possible
