If they are good they will end up being used anyway if it gets bad enough, if stored properly they should still be in good shape, silicone rubber lasts a long time. I used to deal with respirators at work, expiration dates on this stuff is not like food, they would be used last or shipped off to a third world country like America, who are even more ill prepared!

This shit has me spooked now. Stopped to see a 70 year old friend tonight and didn't stay, she's sick with a bad lower respiratory illness. She called the doctor and is going in tomorrow, she's having trouble breathing and told me she's had to sleep sitting up in a chair to help her breath.

I'm sorry to say Captain that she might be a victim of this, whether she has this or not, she needs medical treatment immediately, sounds like pneumonia, tell her to get vaccinated for it, most people over 60 are though. Best of luck with your friend.
A lot of people are gonna be spooked before this shit is over Captain, many don't watch the news at all and I've run into a few around here. We need not just a government response, but a public one as well, this is a lot like a war and needs to be treated as such by the public. Staying home ain't as bad as digging an air raid shelter in your backyard or having air raid wardens on every block enforcing black outs.

After this the measure of every country's government, medical and public health systems will be the mortality rate from this epidemic.
Where will America rate on the scale when compared to others?
How will my own country Canada or the UK?
Will America end up with a disastrous death rate like Italy of around 5%, so far, or will it be closer to S Korea at 0.6%, but they had an excellent response. I fear that America might end up with third world death rates if something is not done quickly and large scale free testing initiated along with other measures. Treat it like a war, you'd spend a lot more on one of those and it would kill far fewer Americans, use defense dollars and resources too, this is a war.

Was reading about Italy today, 5% death rate. They actually have a good modern health care system but they have the oldest population in Europe, 23% are 65 or older. I would say that's why they have the highest death rate, the US has 16% 65 and older.

It sounded like a good idea but I guess in the long run was a total waste of money.
I definitely would not wear an expired mask. I can only imagine how musky and moldy they must smell at this point. They might even give a respiratory problem from breathing in the mold spores or small disintegrated particles emitted from deteriorating .
