Making some upgrades to my room today.This is my first cold season with this setup and I can already see it might not hold minimum temp. Along with that I need a veg area.

So I came up with raising my floor up .I have 7.5 ft of vertical space so I can spare to lose 30 in from flowering height .Then I,ll have a 30 in tall 4x4 veg area underneath. I,m framing up the subfloor and getting everything ready so tonight when the light comes on I can make the change over . This will let me run lights in the veg compartment while the flower is off and maintain temp.
My exhaust is passive so Ill seal my rased floor off and pull my air through the veg area into flower for heat.

Well I got her done last night ! It worked great .I got in both sides with exhaust on . In the top that duct pulls a nice breeze worked like a charm and just in time too , it's 40 out and lights off watching my temp now to see what it does .

Also one of my clones is rooted at day 9 . Pretty happy since now I can run my clones in my new veg area !

Awesome expansion! I want to do the same once I can figure out how to keep the chambers light tight from one another. Any signs of sex yet?

Not yet but I looked back at my notes from 1st grow and it took almost 2 weeks after flipping . Some dont flip till after they so sex . Those plants are secondary to me so they don't have priority .

And thanks on the up grade ! I wonder what the minimum temp can be you know the lowest without stunting them ? I think its 50 or 55 .

Mines light proof you just got to seal her up tight , hell mines just about air tight between the two , it had to be for the passive air flow to work how i wanted it.

Found a good read on temps by the man himself Ed . He says at 40 degrees they become stunted a need time to recover . So it's 57.4 now which isnt bad but ideal medium temp is 70 . He says if the medium temp is kept they can tolerate cooler temps better . I,m thinking some heat cable for plumbing to heat the pots , they have them in various lengths at The Big Orange store .I,ll have to check the wattage on them . I'm thinking I,m going to try running my heat lamp in the bottom and see how that works . It's a 250 w one though wish I had a smaller one but 250 w is way better than a 1500 w heater by far . Any household heater element is 1500 w no way around it .

I use a thermostatically controlled fan speed controller. I have it set to 85 degrees, so when it is that hot it runs 100%, but throttles down at lower temps. In my room it can be like 60 degrees when I get up in the morning, but my cab is at 75 degrees from the heat of the lamp.

Well what I did to raise my temps while lights are off in the flower area , I put 250 w heat lamp in the bottom veg area plugged into a timer 15 /15 min . The heat lamp is aimed at the concrete floor.I also have a fan blowing on the lamp / socket assembly to keep air circulating around it.

So when my ventilation turns off this comes on and heats the air .Then the ventilation comes on and heat lamp goes off . It's working preety well . Still tweaking on it but I'm sure this will get me through the very cold daylight temps.

Tonight I got to rig a light proof deal so i can open the door and still have darkness in the flower area , i,m thinking light proof material and velcro or one of those tarp zippers.

So i just took my 1 of 4 clones that had fully rooted , first one ever , potted it sat it in the windowsill while we was cooking breakfast , and one of the damn cats ate it up .I think it will survive still has some foilage to work with , but damn the luck.

Man that sucks, but at least you know your cat has good taste!

I have a J-1 plant from a cutting of my last grow, and 3 Purple Kush Diesel from clone. The 3 PKD's were sickly at first, but are starting to take off. The J1 is killer! It came from a seed on my last grow and I lucked out with a great phenotype. I've had to stop smoking it in the morning because of the strength.

J-1 must be an Indica , I got some Blueberry I,ll only smoke at night because of its strength makes you sleepy quick.
Are you going to do a Journal or a thread ?

Here's some picture's of my clones . Notice the one the cat ate lol , 2 of 4 are showing roots now i potted those. The other 2 have roots but are not showing yet . The 2 bigger plants are grape tomatoe's . I,m gonna run them all winter only one though , I'm gonna decide tonight which one and up pot to a 1 g pot .

Looks like that cat-nipped plant might pull through.

I think the J-1 is supposed to be sativa dom., and it doesn't really get me sleepy, just so high it is hard to do my work.

I was thinking of doing a thread or something, but have little extra time.

What was your ratio of clones that made it? I realize some are still popping roots, but did you lose any? I have never really cloned before so I'm curious. The J-1 cutting i am growing right now was just a cutting from when I topped. I had no rooting hormone or anything, I just stuck it in seed starter mix in a cut in half 1 liter soda bottle humidity dome, and it survived! It took like a month to see any roots, but luckily I saved those genetics.

Thats cool that that thing rooted ! I only took 4 clones so I,m 4 for 4 . I,m surprised too because I,ve tried it with tomatoes with no luck.
I think its just that Cannabis grows so fast is why they root easily tomatoes are a bitch ! Damn thats cool your J-1 a sativa that strong .I love sativas . I like as close to an 50/50 cross I can sativa/indica .

Good to hear your success with the clones. How much of the roots were showing before you planted them? I'm 5 for 5. I just cut a tray of some more... Trying to do the 4 week cycle.. Harvest every 4 weeks would be nice.
I heard tomatoes are very difficult to clone, but once you figure out what makes it tick you will never pay for another tomato again.. Cloning is awesome. I've been looking into grafting threads.... Now thats some next level shit..

The roots were coming out the sides and down mabey half an in. . I would have waited if they rooted all at the same time but I just planted them as roots showed . They are easy to do though .I,m wanting to head to Denver and pick up some of Subs beans and get a couple mothers going . I,m thinking Agent Orange and The Void . Those clones are clones of clones so I dont know how potency would be.I,d rather clone off a seeded plant .Not to mention you can sell the hell out of them 10-20 bucks a pop .

Update

Blueberrys are showing sex ,so far one of the three in 3g pots is female and little Sopie is female :)
I'm 11 days into flowering they are coming along good . I haven't got any satifactory pis to post but mabey later tonight I,ll get some up . Also made a cool mod to an ceramic heater i had . I removed the blower and heater element and wired my heat lamp to it .Now I got a atmospheric controller . I need to get a relay then I can control my exhaust with it too. It,s nice because it has a digital readout . I just had to poke the temp probe inside my room and wire in the lamp holder . I'm testing it now pics up later .
