I personally think religions are meant as a means of connecting within self, to understand a part of what we already are, and relate it to how to handle our personal experiences. To align it's spiritual and physical compasses so to speak, and to stay on path through all of these experiences.
The bible can help one meditate its own light into a sun. The Son is a(n) intended pun/actual representation of selflessness. An act to be followed, and that was followed as data and evidence supports concurrently. Even the Naked Archeologist cannot disprove the Bible, and it is the greatest selling book on earth cosistently for many reasons.
I dont think Atheism quite defines or equals freedom or independence, but rather defines how closed a mind can truely be towards what it cannot physically see, I am extremely weary of blissful ignorance. It seems to me it could confine and create self inflicted boundaries, and define self's future limitations with our own thoughts. I dont really want any boundaries in my life. I take all things any man says at at least 20% inaccurate, this post is probably no different...lol
In truth, I dont think we have an ability to be spiritless, no matter how hard we try, including atheists.
A son cannot disown the genes of his father. Your spiritual dna cannot disown the genes of its source either. So here we are...
We ourselves are an extension of this energy, like it or not, and to our own chosen degree, all proginy of this light. We cannot disown what we are, we can only build boundaries to support what we want to believe...
Let's see, hmm, what do we want to beleive?...
I think religions attempt to answer these qestions in ways humans might understand and cope with, some more selflessly and productively than others.
