Quick LED Question

Hey dudes. I got a few 2000w King LED’s and the first one I got didn’t have the Veg/Bloom switches on it but it worked great. Now I got a few more but they have the Veg/Bloom switches on them. I’m in 5th week of flower and only the Flower switch has been on. Would it be better to just do a full spectrum with both Veg/Bloom on? I think with just the red/bloom on it’s only giving out 1000w (I know that’s not really the amount it’s giving off for LED). Should I go full spec or leave them on bloom? The quality is great but I’m worried about the yield. Thanks in advance.

The flower & vege switches are just a sales gimmick. Unless you're worried about electricity consumption you should always have them both turned on.

Even with both on, with it being LED the draw wouldn't be that much more. Technically there is a science behind the different spectrums needed during each stage of growth but I've always said the sun doesn't turn off certain rays so why should we.

I've been told the same thing by just about every seasoned led grower on this site. But I am no botanist, but im quite certain plants don't just use solely one spectrum of light for each stage of growth. Sure the veg and flower cycle might like one side of the spectrum over the other but it still needs the other Spectrum to even if in small amounts

When I got my first light with switches I was on my second grow. While they buttons are nice and pretty....I just never seen the point of giving a plant one spectrum instead of the other.

There is some science behind the spectrum of light affecting uptake of some nutrients, and production of some compounds, but it's far from complete or definitive.
When legalization was announced here the news (CBC) had a segment or two about some guys researching this using cannabis plants grown in tents with limited spectra. I don't recall any followup though. Presumably it didn't quite pan out.
I say the plant has been evolving to use sunlight for eons, so until someone shows me otherwise I'll stick with full spectrum.

One day I'll be able to Like comments. This is one of them.

Saw this thread, wanted to jump in instead of creating a new one. I have a King LED 1000W light, 2x4 tent, about 20 inches above my autoflower "seedlings" (not sure what point they can be called real plants! this is my first grow). I'm on Day 14-16, started running them 18/6 but switched to 20/4.

My first question: I've been using just the "veg" setting, that blue light. This thread makes it seem like that's all bullshit. Should I just have both switches flipped on?

Second: When they start flowering, should I even bother switching to the "bloom" setting only or just run both on but vary the timing to 12/12?

Finally: I have until May 30 to submit a return on this light with Amazon? Should I seize this opportunity to order something higher quality and ditch this KingLED? I got it on sale for $120, I'd be willing to go up a little bit in budget ($200?) if it means having something that'll do the job better

Thanks everyone!

Run both always. Also for autos you dont need to switch to 12/12. Autos flower automatically hence the name. So keep them always on 18/6 or 20/4.
