I get it gents. Its actually a hobby for me but my wife is the one who smokes. I can't because of my job. But that being said I want whats good. I still want to put out the best product I can and maybe eventually master it. I appreciate all the recommendations and input from everyone. I may have to go for something less expensive for now but I will get to where I need to be when money is right. After mortgage and bills shit gets tight. But far from broke. Just gonna ease into it...

Exactly. Priorities... It's a bummer though that you did splash for something you thought was going to do the job but thanks to the typical shady light marketing that over-advertises and underperforms, you're out some dollars and need to spend more.

One of the reasons I've chosen to spend more is to have a bit of peace of mind for household electrical safety as well.

Yeah they advertise it as one thing then ends up being something else. My fault tho. I should have done my homework then made the decision but I was in a rush to get things rolling. Live and learn!
I could hold a huge yard sale with all of the equipment that I regretfully bought early on or no longer use. It seems to be part to the adventure.

I just ran a quiet little digital yardsale of my own for another long-running pastime/small biz of mine and sold two items that were literally collecting dust on the shelf & now have enough $$ for a couple more lights for my little tent. Didn't even have to hit any of the shitty online second hand sales sites, just dropped a word or two in a post on a forum and had a few messages in my inbox.

This as cheap as you should go. PPFD maps are BS when you don't know what your looking at and honestly you don't. Just a bunch of pretty colors and you try to see if one map has more3 humps than the other. Your in a 4x4, you need even light coverage and wattage. This is a cheap light with 400 watts. If I was on a budget I would seriously consider it. Those other lights in this post are smaller lights as far as size goes. They will focus their energy toward the center of the tent and the sides of the plants will suffer when you flower.
Good morning everyone. So I pulled the trigger on the SZXLUX 40000W as recommended. I needed something asap and this was what I can afford. Arrives Friday. Unfortunately thats the earliest. So thanks for the help. Hope you guys don't mind me hitting you up when I get to other issues I may have.

Cool beans! It may not be the greatest light in the world, but you won't regret it. From what I have heard the company is easy to work with in the event of a problem, but I have only heard of one person who had a problem. Just be patient and everything will work out. You'll see a difference right away. Don't go overboard with nutrient additives either, base nutrients to begin with along with cal=mag, floralicious plus and recharge. Withy your first grow you want to keep everything consistent (the same) and simple. That way you learn what the plant should look and grow like. Then when you start adding to the base nutes you will recognize problems faster. Don't get on the trichome train at harvest time, make sure they are mostly amber and the plant is starting to show signs of dying and your wife will be happy every time. Focus on root growth for best results also.

Good Luck

I've been thinking about doing this, but it would have to be non-local. I wish I could just throw it all up fb marketplace or have an old fashioned yard sale. I'm talking an assortment of HPS / LED lights, bulbs, automated watering systems, weird fittings galore, different sized flood trays, PVC, miles of tubing, a ton of rockwool, a bunch of Mega Crop, ect ect. I even have a wide electric pot meant for baking a turkey that I bought back when I was using a little vacuum chamber to make BHO. The chamber didn't fit inside and now it's just chillin in my basement with everything else. It's ridiculous.

Honestly, on a forum this sized, I'm surprised there's not a 'marketplace' sub forum. That's where I do it for other interests. Often you don't even need to post an ad...in this case I just dropped that I was soon to be putting a few items on the block in a thread for enthusiasts for that maker (hand made electronic units)...and there go the replies in my inbox with people looking to buy. 3 days later I have cash on hand.

I wonder with the release of the new Samsung diodes pending (just listened to an interview with the guy from HLG talking about them and looking forward to their new lights)...and I wonder if they'll release some boards with the new diodes in the same format as the old ones. I'd love to be able to upgrade the QB96 boards in the 225 with the fancy new ones. They also mentioned a new 'Blackbird' light that would slot in at entry-level...

Thanks bro. Like I explained in the previous posts...I feel like I'm overwatering the plants. According to the fox farms feeding chart im supposed to feed twice a week. But I'm not really sure about the qty of juice to give. What do you recommend from veg to flower. I also give terpinator and cal mag

Well like I said before Fox Farm is tripping! You don't water based on the soil, you water based on the plant. How does Fox Farm know if you have a tree, bush or twig? Some people say weigh the pot, but that seems kind of iffy. On my first grow I watered on Monday and didnt worry on Tuesday. Wednesday I would take a look and see if the leaves looked as though they where wilting. If they looked to be wilting I would water again. With small plants I would water with 1 liter until I noticed the leaves starting to wilt on the third day, then I went up to 2 liters. By the time I was ready to flip to flower I was using 3 liters per plant every third or forth day. Your current plants are pretty thin so I wouldnt expect them to need a lot of water. Dry soil does three things 1. forces the roots to grow looking for water. 2. Discourages mold and mildew. 3. Discourages gnats! If you have gnats grab some neem oil spray and after you water, spray the top of the soil. Also pick up a small fan from Home Depot and aim it so it blows across the top of the soil and another fan to blow on the plants themselves. Gnats dont like to land or fly in windy areas. If you have air being pulled in from outside of the tent grab an old pillow and use the filling to cover the hole or vent. It act like a filter, just dont stuff too much and block airflow. Never ever spray anything on the plant! I repeat NEVER EVER SPRAY ANYTHING ON THE PLANT. Especially when its flowering. Spraying with plain water is ok. I would recommend after your first grow is done pull everything out of the room and give the room itself a good dose of Ortho home pest control. Every nook and cranny and along the baseboards. Then clean everything well and leave Foxfarm alone. Grab Promix HP, it has fungicide in it to prevent gnat larvae from living in the soil, Lime that will help stabilize PH, perlite for good drainage and aeration. It also does not have any nutrients in it. Foxfarm and other super soils have nutrients in them that should be good for up to 6 weeks. Your plants havent come close to using the nutrients, but then you dont know when to start adding nutrients. So now you end up with too many nutrients and the result is nutrient lockout and stunted growth. Another reason to go with Promix! Promix HP, or Promix BX if you want some coco in the mixture.

One last thing, I am not an expert by any means, just somebody who has had very good results and learned from the mistakes i have made so far.

So promix is the soil to grow in? And don't add nutes. Just water?

No, Promix doesn't have a lot of nutrient content...its pretty inert, so you use it with nutrients and you have more control because the soil isn't adding any random question marks when it comes to nutrient content or TDS.

So I happen to have the same nutes already because I have 2 plants in the dwc setup and am feeding it those nutes. So regardless of the soil....get the soil with minimal nutes so I can add them myself amd not overfeeding right

Correct, with the assumption that you're adding according to some kind of feeding schedule that has good amounts. Otherwise when you're using nutrient rich soil you're adding nutrients to nutrients that are already in the soil and it's hard to tell what's already there and in what quantities. Also note that your plants will tell you if you're feeding too much or too little as well (pay attention to those leaves...).
