I can't say I have ever used 91% iso. It would have been convenient, but just too much water in it for me. It makes the purging process a pain in the ass, especially in the summer. When you are done purging, there is still a lot of water left which can grow mold. At least that is the case with grain alcohol. I have never had it happen to me, but I have heard others bring up mold problems when using a low proof alcohol.
I notice a difference between 190 everclear and 192 polish vodka. As soon as I get a chance I will try the 200 proof organic ethenol. I have everything to do it, except for time.
I am not sure if this is the case with iso since I have only used 99%. There is a huge difference when I compare grain alcohol. It is worth the extra money for a higher proof, less water, at least when it comes to grain alcohol. I am assuming the results would be the same with iso. You can order it online, the 99%, that is how I get it. From a medical supply company. Some places sell it in bulk, 1 and 5 gallon buckets.
I can't speak for iso, but again, grain alcohol, the higher the proof, the better. Very noticeable in the purging process, especially if you are not using heat so you can preserve the terpenes.
Mold is never an issue for me, but you are right. The water does take a bit longer to dry and could be a risk. But in my case, it's not and it's worth the wait. I get 100% from a paint supply store at nearly 40 bucks a gallon after tax. I don't think it's worth the money for the method I use. I never submerge/shake, and the trim never sits in a puddle.. I just pour it through then evap. As long as you don't pick up chlorophyl, I say it's all good to use 91.

My hash turns out awesome with 91%, and it turned out awesome when I used 99% I don't know what to say. My whole process including evap takes about 48 hrs, and the oil never gets over about 100 degrees. This stuff is clean, and full of terpenes.
Guess what oilmkr that powder that is scraped in those pictures is cannabis oil!! It is very yummy highly effective and very pure cannabis oil but thanks for adding more false information. You really need to stay out of the discussion until you have a clue what your talking about.

How do you mix the powder Qwiso into vape pen oils? I am very curious about this as I have to make my own and this would be an ideal way to smoke withot the smell of herb

I prefer dried chopped buds,unfrozen.I put the weed in a gallon freezer bag,pour in just enough I so to cover,swish around till it starts to leach out chlorophyll,snip the corner and drain it.With the baggie I'm able to squeeze it all out.Two washes in each corner of the baggie.Then
filter through a set of fine mesh ss filters then a coffee filter.I have a round and square Pyrex I evap with,I set a cheap a.c. filter on top of my dishes(to block out dust and contaminants)and set a small box fan on top to speed evaporation....
It'll evap a 1/4in of iso completely in 3hrs at room temp.I prefer smoking the iso hash instead of making oil with it......you?

I usually run my material either fresh frozen, or nicely dried and then frozen. I have tried running different ways, with and without freezing, fresh, dried, cured....... I decide mostly by how I feel when I'm trimming. Usually I let my plants dry with the sugar trim on them, and then wash the trim once its good and dried. Sometimes if I am in a hurry or have a reason to I will trim wet, and when I do I freeze the trim fresh.
I do 2-3 washes about 20, 30, then 45 seconds. Let the solution chill for a few hours and then filter through a multi layered coffee filter. Then I evap it in a dish covered with a ac filter, on top of my dehumidifier . The warm dry air from the machine blows over the top of the dish, and will fully evap a few pints of solution in 24 hours. Then I scrape the dish and enjoy my qwiso. Some times I leave it like the powder in the first pictures on the last page, some times I press it together into a mass like the last picture I posted.

Wanted to chime in about the large runs of iso. You need to have thin film If you will yield more poor half and do that first and then the other half after scrapping. I can say.. that if people must do big runs. Let it sit for 5 days on the seedmat with a fan as well. It will harden over time. If it still has water in it then you can put it in a dehydrater at 95dg and run it until the oil is hard.
Ive done a 7g run this way and it came out awesome. sorry ive been lax on pics though.

Bigger over the last few years I've tried a bunch of different ways, and it always seemed like freezing the material and the alcohol produced the nicest extracts. When your working with dried material its much less noticeable of a difference then with fresh material, since it has less chloropyl left in it once its dry anyway.

I don't make it anymore because it tastes like a solvent-based extract no matter what. BUT...IF you want a good way to make it then I suggest you order a cheap "French press" coffee maker to do the process. Just make sure everything has been placed in the freezer overnight -the weed, the alcohol and the French press. Add the weed, add the alcohol, "swirl" it for several seconds, "press" the liquid onto a plate into a thin layer....use several plates if necessary and don't make a swimming pool. AND NEVER PUT A FAN ON IT! Let it slowly air dry/cure for several days if necessary -in the sunlight or under some kind of UV light. 9 out of 10 times that's why people get sappy consistency...because the outer layer skins over like a blister and seals in the solvent under it and it takes even longer to dry.
After its dry, take some type of flexible, razor sharp blade (like a razor blade) or a scalpel or an x-acto knife, etc and scrape off the "varnish" which should chip and shatter just like dried varnish. I'd suggest putting the plate in a clean sink or bathtub when you start scraping because it often shatters and little shards of it go flying everywhere -until they eventually turn up stuck on your brand new couch!
Having said that....Sometimes the QWISO just stays sappy. I believe it's because the alcohol solvent reacts differently with some of the organic compounds and terpenes in various, different strains of weed and changes some of the flavors and characteristics -depending on that interaction. I don't have a scientific explanation but I can taste it.

In my view, using a concentrate is beneficial in that they don't include as many organic compounds as smoking flower. However, it somewhat defeats the purpose of purity when you apply it to a joint. I prefer to keep flower smoking and concentrate dabbing separate as they are two very different types of experiences for me. A single dab of rosin in the morning is my cup of coffee! Cheers!
