What worked was strong pot brownies. No lie. Leave a few out in the yard, watch them eat them up like the little fatties that they are. You wont see them again for months. I promise i do this every year now just before my first strawberies are ready and it works. The only problem is you dont get to watch them later in the night.

Go to your local gun shop and ask for the "aguila Super Calibris". They are shorter than a CCI CB Short, and there is supposedly no powder in them, only the primer. If you shoot them from a rifle, they are no louder than a CO2 pistol.
Put some cat food in a beer bottle, and you will hear the bottle fall as they try to get the food out-that way you don't need to sit peering out the window all night.
