Really tall plants?

So this is my first grow... I have 3 plants going, the tallest of them is about 18", whereas the others are about 14" and 12", yet all of them don't seem very full. The tallest only branches off in about 5 places, and it seems everyone else's plants are really full and wide as well as tall. I will try to get pictures up soon, but anyone have any idea, or is it just the strain i'm growing?

What lights are you using? Could be the strain but doubt it, most likely your lights.

did you start from seed,if so males tend to grow twice as fast as the females. just keep your eye on that one when you make the switch to 12/12. welcome to the site

im pretty broke, so I'm running on a budget here. I really started off not taking it really seriously, just one of my buddies said we should try to grow, so I took it up, germinated some seeds, and tossed them in a couple pots with a 60W plant light and I think a 25(70)W CFL. All of a sudden it's been about 5 weeks and I have these 3 beauties growing in my closet! Ill try to get pictures in the next couple of days but I don't have a camera so we'll see.

Is that an incandescent (the regular one's most people use in their houses) light bulb? If it is, don't use it, instead go to lowes or home depot and get 2 23 watt daylight/65K and 2 23 watt warm white/27k lights, and 2 light Y splitters and put one of each type of bulb into each y splitter.... keep the bulbs no more than a 7 inch distance away from the plants... this is only about 15 to 20 dollars worth of equipment around here....

dude make reflectors for your lights. use soda cans or at least foil. foil is not recommended but it will be better than losing 70% of your light/lumens wasted on the ceiling/walls. your plants will thank you too.

Your not even in the ballpark. In order to get anything to workout good you need to live by the motto "Spend money to make money". It sounds expensive but its going to save you alot of fucking around. Go buy at least a 400 watt mh light. If you want to use the same light to veg and bud get a digital ballast, that way you can veg under a mh and when your ready take mh out and put in a hps bulb to bud. This set up will turn out some nice buds. That standard bulb will do nothing but grow scrawny skinny little plants that arent worth shit. I have 2 400 mh for veg and 2 400 hps and i turn out about 25 oz of killer white widow every 6 weeks.

you dont know what you are talking about. i have many harvest under my belt.
i know how to effectively grow with shit you are not succesful to grow with.
i use 13 cfl with alluminum foil as reflectors without burning the plants! it does not take much money to grow some bomb shit. at the 99 cent store you can buy 2 100 watt cfl's for 99cents and at walmart wormcastings are 3.00 my hydro store sales both high nitrogen and high phosphorus both for under 15.00 and that will last a year and a half. plus a 9.00 fan. dont insist you know everything with fucken FIVE post. do you work for marlboro???

my post wasnt directed at you aladin2685 it was directed to the guy growing with a reading lamp. just because i have 5 posts dont think i havent been growing for years. I have found that when you spend a little money on good equipment it pays off . I tried that mcguyver shit in the beginning and had nothing but problems. Now my systems roll completely problem free, and make me about $5000 every 6 weeks so im probably not stupid.

In the end what im trying to tell this guy is, when you start it takes a little money and as you make money, spend a little on equipment. Dont make it harder then it has to be. My shit allways runs right so most days i spend about 15 minutes checking on stuff.

yea they are stretching for the light, get a socket spliter($1.25 at walmart) and put 2 200w cfl's($6.00) thats what i would do anywho
