After some time now of running this light I finally got a bit of time to run some temp numbers from the cob using a fluke thermometer and a temp gun just to have another reading to compare to each other. I was not sure what to expect as this is my first light build using a 4.25 wide heat sink. I was slightly worried because I didn't really see to many build using anything other than the heatsinkusa 5.88 wide heatsink. I wanted to also do this test in temps higher than inside the house that's air conditioned. I chose to use my garage after a long day..started this test at 4:00pm and the temps inside the garage measured 90f. I took some initial temp measurements from a few different spots in the garage and it was fairly consistent so I was confident in my numbers.
I'm still testing the lights as I post this and figured I would keep the light going for a full 24 hoursabd periodically check the readings. This is what I got so far..
General temp of the garage with the Acurite. I found this to be fairly accurate within a couple degrees.
Garage temp using the fluke
Got the thermocouple taped on
Also got the initial reading before the light was turned on with the laser gun
