What I think is going on is that you didn't know where/how to source ingredients, or you were too lazy to do some research and you paid a premium for ingredients that are otherwise very inexpensive. Most of the stuff you need can either be found for free, or for next to nothing at a feed store.I grew hydro for years, and I've been making my own soil for about 18 months now...... and the organic route is cheaper. There is no debating this.
As for you calling others cunts and what not, you need to take a look in the mirror. Here's a thread that you started. This was the first post, and without even a single person replying to it you already had sand in your vagina....

Hey guys sorry to dig up a old post but just to let you know everything worked out great. Thanks for all your input. As for hydro vs soil for price I think soil works out better, This year I've spent nearly 800$ on amendments and other products. I shopped around but ended up getting everything I needed at a reasonable price. So 800$ worth of nutrients/amendments enough for 50+ outdoor plants that are all well on their way of producing 1lb plus per plant I can't complain

I made the switch to organics a couple months ago! So far I'm loving organics for my lifestyle it is a lot easier.
That being said. Hydro can be done simply and very cheap. I grew a few grows in DWC before switching to organics. I only grow 2-4 plants at a time.
Before I researched products I went out and bought a bunch of expensive "must have" nutes, equipment and gadgets.
After doing research I ditched all my expensive nutes and equipment and used a simple 5 gallon bucket ($3) a decent air pump ($15-30) a net pot ($2) and some hydroton ($12 and I reused it). I also bought one small bottle of ph down ($8 ) and a cheap ppm and ph meter ($15 and $20) I than strictly only used one nutrient, FloraNova Bloom ($16) I still have over half of that bottle sitting in my cupboard after doing three full grows with it.(9 plants total). I only did a complete res change once before flower. Other than that I topped up with minimal nutes (about 5ml a gal) and very rarely used ph down. I still have everything I'd need for a few grows if I decided to go hydro again.
I'm not saying either one of you is right I'm just saying hydro can be done fairly cheap if you do it right. Just like organics can be done very cheap if done right.
Initial startup was more for hydro because I bought a ton of shit I didn't even end up using. But if I knew what I knew now I could do it for cheap.
Small 2-4 plant grows you Could probably do hydro for as cheap as organics Like said in a previous post it depends on the buyer/grower. I spent more on smart pots than I did on my nutes for hydro. But someone could come back saying I co of have bought $1 plastic pots etc...
I guess realistically you could organics for free if you were real crafty and dedicated. Gathering, growing, producing your own amendments, EWC, compost etc

Well I can say as someone going from 3.5 gallon hempys using AN 3 part, building my no till garden is coming out way more then if I was going to do DWC. Seems like every time i find something local i get told it sucks. So putting this together and sourcing all the stuff is a headache. Especially in small town usa.
For instance, I found some local compost. Local company picks up food (cafeterias, hospitals and such) and yard waste from the local community and makes compost out of it. Saves like 15000 tons of stuff in the landfill. But was in formed it would be shit because of pesticides and "poison" was the term used. EWC ONLY. And only good ones. that you cant find anywhere.
and then the prices that were listed. id like to see where you can order 1 cu ft of "quality" EWC for $40 shipped to me. But even still, im making 18 cu ft of soil. So i need 6 of ewc. @$40 bucks a ft., im still looking at $240. Where as the local compost $2.88 for 2 cu ft. Or i set up enough bins, so maybe in a year i can make my soil from my own ewc. Still going to spend money on setting that up.
And then there's aeration. Dont use perlite in no tills. LOL of course not. I can get THAT local and cheap. Instead use pumice, lava rock, oyster shells, and or some biochar.
Well AWESOME. Pumice? Garden centers and nursery's either dont have it, or dont even know what the hell it is. Lava rock. SURE i can get that local. In Rock form. Big enough to beat a man to death with. So ill get 3 cu ft of lava rock, then i got at least 4+ hours breaking it all down to small form for my soil. Bio char is cheap, 10 bucks at walmart. But ill also need to spend time breaking that down. And who the hell knows how many gallons a 50 lb bag is. So either ill buy more then i need, or not enough.
Or i could go to one website, order everything i need to make a 12 site RDWC system for around 250 bucks. Plus chiller for 400. And nutes.
All this was a lot cheaper till i found out that i shouldnt do no tills in 7 gallon buckets but rather 15+. And why am i still going organic in spite of this colossal pain in the ass you may ask? Because imo, Organically grown cannabis and food tastes better then hydroponics.

I feel your pain, and it did cost me way more to do organic than Hempy, but organic is organic and that's a step up no matter what you are talking about, so keep going brother, we will all make it in the end, and don't get scared now!

You will learn so much from this thread. I don't think they start talking about smaller (1-10gal) notills until the end but there's a few guys that do 5 gallons. Bluejay mentions 2 gal notills he's had mothers in for over a year somewhere. I myself recently started a few 5 and 7 gal no tills and will start 10 gals soon.
