Extension cords are ok, but the wire heats up as the power passes through. Don't over load & make sure the cord is unwound. (Not on a coil)
how about a cheep & cheerful LED light?
Use less electricity & the heat build up would be greatly reduced.
Even if you buy something cheap to do for awhile until an alternative is found, I'm just trying to think of the safest options.
Damn, even my spares are to UK standards & 240v.
