Rockwool Issue

My plants are growing in rockwool cubes. The cubes have a lot of green algae or moss growing on them... is this a problem? if so, how do i prevent it? i try to only water when the cubes are dry on top but it seems to be taking over the whole top of the cubes. Really started noticing when i up'd the nutrients.

any help/ideas are greatly appreciated.

Mix over the counter H2o2 (Hydrogen Peroxide) in a spray bottle or in your water mixture. the more the better. It is only 3% that you get at the store. No need to mix it with water really but if you feel unsure try it with water. I use it strait and my plants thrive. Not just the mean green either, all my plants.

When H2O2 comes in contact with “impurities” it will give a reaction which causes it to fizz. This fizzing is the Oxygen atoms coming out of their bond with the water molecules and bubbling out of the solution. As gardeners, we can use this eagerness to break its’ bond to help keep our plants free from everyday pests.

Thats good advice, just wanted to add that the algea is not going to hurt anything nor will it slow the growth of your plant. I recently reasearched this topic cause I have the same problem. The H2O2 helps but you need to follow the directions carefuly. I mixed up some and it must have been to strong because the plant I hit it with fell over within minutes and most of the roots burned off. Now I add about 25 drops per gallon not a half a cup like I read somewhere. Im using 35% so that may be why I had that mishap. The plant is recovering Im happy to say.
