Root rot question

Alright so the more I look into this stuff the less sure I am that I can handle this problem w/o it eventually killing my plants.

Recently I experienced a bit of root rot in my hydro and wanted to treat it as quickly as I could, So I treated the roots and the air stones in a peroxide bath of about half a cup of 3% for half a gallon of water. did this for about an hour thirty then the rest of the day in plain ol water.

Worked well to help clear it up, but not get rid of, however the new roots shooting out of the old damaged ones are now shooting super healthy roots like crazy. I just heard on a video that root rot is permanent and if you wish to get rid of it you have to not only treat the roots but clip the effected area. Problem with it my girls are so young that I fear this will either stress them out too much and stunt them or just flat out kill them.

Should I just take the loss and start over with the knowledge I will fuck the next hydro up less or is there hope for em? They are around 2-3 weeks so the loss wouldn't be that bad only downside is with the seeds im germin I cant guarantee they will have many fems.

Sorry for the long ass post. TLDR: is it better just to scrap these 2-3 week old plants because of the root rot? Am I gonna need to clip the roots? If I have to basically clip them to the basket is it even worth it at that point?

I have been getting far too much conflicting info on how to deal with this.
 
would If I could but i'll work with you here and figure that part out as I can see how seeing may help with judging just gotta find a camera or a similar pic lol.
 
Alrighty got a hold of my sis's phone and was able to get these. Hope I put them in correctly, but as you can see still pretty young and you can clearly see the damage if only because these new roots create a very stark contrast.

you can use h2o2 permanently to keep rot away.

what are your water temps? is your res light proof?

My water temps flux a bit I have to add about a gal of frozen water ( in a jug of course ) twice a day and sometimes I cant exactly get the second one cause something comes up and im out of the house for a bit. as for blocking the light admittedly I could do a lot more.

water temps in high 60's F. light proof the res.

and then decide if you want to run a sterile vs beneficial bacteria in your res.

This is all you need to know.

You can use a chiller to get temps down, in a small system possibly ice probes would do the job. Avoid air pumps as they will heat up your water. Use a waterfall or floom to raise DO levels.

Sterile or benificial bacteria is a choice you need to make and stick with. Running sterile is definitely the cheapest way to go as a little pool shock does go a long ways.
 
Sweet alright I got some things to try. Gonna probably start with the H2O2 see how well that works and if I need to go further I'll give the shock idea a try. Also wanna give this waterfall idea a try cause I do have a pump and will do some work on my grow room to make it more suitable. Some of these I may have to space out time wise as not to stress em out too much. Thanks, cause I was on the verge of trying to snip the roots or just toss em out.

pH
pH

enough DO(dissolve oxygen)
something to prevent root rot
light nutes
 
When I ran DWC I never had much luck with hydrogen peroxide. Pool shock is the way to go, it's cheap and it works.

I second @rkymtnman on the pH, it's critical in hydro. 5.8 always worked well for me.

This is a really interesting article and gives me some ideas on growing. Ex I see why in germ stations you want a little of this not just for the anti-bacterial reasons now. Great read thanks man.

Haha im starting to see more and more of that. checked and balanced the ph on my system and holly hell did I have too much nitro lol.

And to all the others thank you the info has been incredibly helpful ( even if just for my own assurance ).

To anyone interested in what happened:

I put in the water pump to try and see how well that worked. It was actually a success or maybe its just the plant is finally regaining vigor. New roots are looking great and old ones are getting their color back. Today I added a small 2.5 ml of root surge as I decided I would prefer beneficial bacteria for this grow ( or at least attempt it since I got some stuff for it ). Hopin for the best but the ladies are perkin back up so im hopeful.
