The girls are lovin their new light set ups. Im still getting my watering regimine down though. The one plant got droopy because it dried out too much. Then i watered it too fast and it all ran out the bottom.i believe the term is "hydrophobic".it stayed droopy for a couple days but i watered it slowly with a fine mist pump sprayer and got it to hold water and it bounced back finally.20190126_214416.jpg

trimmed the plants up a little a couple days ago.top fed with happy frog jump start.took the screens out of the trays.the fabric pots wick up the runoff and keep the soil moist. Im really trying to dial in how much water to use without getting runoff. I used 1l of water per pot and a lot of it came out the bottom. I think ill cut that in half and just do 1/2 liter waterings.20190130_173935.jpg

where's the mulch?!?!?! it'll help with water retention :)

dude! you read my mind! lol i was actually going to use some old dried fan leaves that had been saving for something. I really want cover crop of clover.but im having a hard time finding it anywhere but amazon.

too late for a cover crop for you. by the time its gets to be any size it'll be totally shaded out. leaves work ok but brown materials are best. I prefer straw. great carbon source for fungi and other microbes. rice hulls work well too. just whatever is cheap and easily accessible.

I think there's more than one way to do most things. I would suggest a mixed strategy. If i were in no-till beds, I'd be using a cover crop when my plants were small and the cover is still getting light. After flower starts and the canopy gets too dense, the cover crop will die out. Perfect opportunity to put a straw mulch down. the cover crop will decompose under the straw, and then when flowering is done, you can just sow the next cover crop right into the straw mulch. Rinse and repeat. Lasagna tech as they say!

I will be using SIP's (have been using them for a while) I have been using dried leaves as cover, but they are messy get freaking everywhere and I have often wondered if an actual cover crop would be a good idea on this small of a scale. My plan this round is to move my currently 3 week old seedlings into 14 gallon inntainers veg em out take a bunch of clones add them to a set of larger maybe 23 gallon or so sips and flower out to tell sex and pheno of moms and proceed from there.

cover crop is good for any application really. no harm in doing it, only have something to gain. extends the interconnectedness of mycorrhizal fungi to the rest of the soil when you get roots from wall to wall :)

ok. what would you suggest for my application? should I use a variation and change them up?

found a sprayer wand for 7 bucks, got some adapters and some water line and modded my sprayer. This makes watering sooooo much easier! especially for the plant all the way in the back.20190202_204359-1.jpg watered with a half of a 24hr compost tea brew, keeping the other half brewing for another 12-24 hours before i use it.

Plus one for the galaxyhydro lights! I’ve been using mine since sept of 2015, every day 12 hours a day nonstop, only one diode has burnt out so far

i love the galaxyhydros! I like the dimmable ones especially. This will be my first harvest using only l.e.d.'s. Its going pretty well so far ;)
