We have a cancer patient and we need to find a safe and pure solvent to use that is available in Michigan to make hash oil. I have only been able to find VM&P NAPTHA at Home Depot, any suggestions?

I use de-natured alcohol.. S-L-X. easier to get by the gallon.
you can get 99% iso at mejiers pharmacy's but you need to get a stock person not a pharmacist (they don't kno shit) for large quanties.

hit me up at GC3 and we can see where I could help ya
good luck

Naptha is Safe, so long as it is 100% Pure Naptha only. 99% iso alcohol is safe, but can leave an unpleasant aftertaste.

I'm not sure Denatured Alcohol would be a good option. I thought I have read it has an some nasties put into it so it can not be drank. Otherwise it would be used to get drunk on being straight alcohol. Not sure I would be using it for oil, especially for a Cancer Pt. However 151 Bacardi would work, though be a slow evaporation.

Running BHO Oil with Butane is very doable.
Hexane can be used also.
Keep in mind Hexane and Butane are both heavily used in the food preparation industry, so is much more safe than most options as far as end product, but is typcially more explosive while working with it...

Be sure to decarboxilate (heat to 220*f for 20 minutes or 270*f for 5 minutes in oven) to activate the Oil before you give it to the patient to start using.

The entire state is surrounded by the safest solvent known to man kind. Water! Love me some Ice water bubble. Do it right and it will melt thru the screen.

I was going to suggest the same thing, ice water bubble hash. If you want to ingest it rather than smoke it you can just decarb it in the oven and put it in capsules.

alcohol or butane or any solvent made RIGHT should NEVER have an odd aftertaste.

the green tar? nope.. honey colored.

you need to do a wash and not a soak. i would suggest watching the tutorial i posted with Uncle Pete -the wash is key to having a high quality oil and not breaking down plant material.

I use 190 proof everclear. I get it out of state when I need it. Then I use a water distiller to make it and recover the alcohol so I waste very little. I also like it because I know the solvent won't harm anyone if there are any traces left behind and because I'm distilling it there is very little alcohol fumes so I don't have to worry as much about ventilation.

N2, that is so cool. I have always planned on picking some of that up next trip out of state, but I haven't been out in a while. Really excellent idea on the distillation recovery. Is that a kit from a wine-making kit or did you assemble from a YouTube vid or what? It's an excellent idea what you're doing.

I use 99 % Isopropyl Alcohol myself and when found in gallons I tend to stock up , some Hydro stores carry gallons . This makes the procedure easier verses having cases of Pints from Meijers ..

I'm very interested in an ethanol extraction and recover it in a still. As NickNasty mentioned, it's the one solvent that does not cause concern if there's some remaining. I would use acetone maybe never

Here is a video on it . You can buy the distiller in the video for around 200$ or make a distiller. I just bought 1. The one in the video is called an oil distiller or water distiller they are the same thing.
