SK1: starting to fill up:
<-cam flash

and getting whiter and whiter:
<-led light

Top right still a weird thing but producing buds like normal...except for one, below the white fan, notice the indica bud... (yes that from the CF3 in the back on the right...same as last pic in post #57)

Obviously lost a few older fan leaves by now but still green from top to bottom:

Couple of inches less stretch would have been great, but they are filling up nicely.d

CF2 - my Sativa field:

This is the one I tried to cross with the SK1. I can't even explain how good the leaves feel. Really strong yet soft. Rough, yet smooth.

I tried to make some decent pics of the CF1, left around the corner, it has crystals that really deserve the label 'crystal'. Really catches the eye, as if there are small sharp pieces of glass in their. Doesn't sound good, looks awesome. I'll try to make a pic when the hps just turns on.

The SK is starting to smell really good. Lemon-ish. CF1 is something special too, probably the worst yielder in the bunch but she smells like a keeper nevertheless. So... I pealed open the 1 surviving banana I still had drying, got a small microscopic amount of pollen out of it, and rubbed it on pistils on a small lower bud site on the CF1. 5 of them turned brown overnight. On harvest time I will leave that bud on the branch and let it ripen some more. Probably won't be using those seeds but it should complete the TM test for me with some more satisfaction.

SK calyxes are starting to get really really frosty :blsmoke: Funny actually. I picked the SK amongst other reasons for being resinous, the description at DNA genetics even mentioned something like being a great hash plant.... yeah, if you make hash from the good meat  The trim itself won't yield much hash (simple ice hash method) at all. Probably won't even be using it.

I'll shoot some pics later today or tomorrow, but the CF3, the ex-weakling I trimmed down most (branches not leaves...) and would probably have removed weeks ago if it were on soil in separate pots, is producing the fattest buds...

Wow, they are looking so nice and healthy. Do you think you could post a pic of the stem? Would love to see how the structure is in your setup. I don't know how you can move any air in there, looks packed!

Love those trich shots! Plants look great. I just recently harvested DNAs Og18 x Skunk, was a nice danky plant with sharp odors. Where I felt it lacked was the high, which was pretty disappointing for me. I even made more beans cause it looked really special. I also ran DNA Pure Afghan and that was another disappointment. I hope the DNA strains work out for you bro, maybe its just how I grew them. If you want to try DNA's Og18 x Skunk, let me know, I will hook you up I got plenty of beans.

Peace

The main reason I'm growing the SK is because my wife asked me to grow some Kush, something to smoke in the evening. Doesn't have to be really strong but hopefully a bit relaxing body-stoned opposed to the head-high haze and sativa-doms I like. I'm not a big kush fan but both my SK plants smell, mostly like lemon, assuming from the lemon thai in the lineage and I do look forward to tasting her.

Regardless, and even though the pollination of my two SK actually seems to have succeeded, I'm currently not that excited about growing the SK again. Looks good, but not my thing. I suck at describing taste and odors and effects, but when I rub the stem of two of my three Chocolate Fondue...man... that's more like it. Oh, and of course the two CF I did 'not' pollinate... Unless they are going to fill up a lot more than I expect I'll be growing something entirely different again next round.

I'm still in the process of figuring out what. Need to rearrange my grow room first and that's not an easy decision, so many things I want to do with so little space...

If you want to try DNA's Og18 x Skunk, let me know, I will hook you up I got plenty of beans.

I also ran DNA Pure Afghan and that was another disappointment.
Some local grower just popped a few old Pure Afghan seeds, seems to be gaining some demand again here because it has proven itself outdoors here as well, despite our shitty climate. Sorry to hear DNA's was a disappointment.

@hbbum: thanks, and sure, I'll snap some pics of the lower portion of my setup and plants when the light flips on in a bit.

First a couple of other pics:

This is the CF3 that has been having the same probs from the start. Can't change its nutes level separate from the other plants, gave up on trying to get it green up weeks ago (I think I broke the stem or main root when transplanting causing multiple issues) but it's producing some very nice hazy buds:

CF2:

12/12 day 44:

There are 6-7 buds covered below leaves and about 6 more left around the corner. Still 2-3 weeks to go.

Note on nutes: I refreshed the rez 3 days after I added PK13/14 opposed to leaving it in their for a week after my eyes opened about additives and boosters. :leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::weed: I'll continue to use some of the bottles I have since I already have them (like magic green) but if I had to buy nutes I'd go for only AB and root excel and the biogreen calgel (ca, mg, N).

Thanks kroost, I just noticed you did an awesome job on your own canopy. :weed:

This is from the large CF2 in the back, a sativa that needed most 'work' to keep at the SK level and prevent it from become a real mess:

Notice at the top left one of my two tubes (packed in radiator foil, stuff we put behind our heating systems to reflect heat). There's roughly 20inches 'below' it.

On the right, the two intake holes, they come from the intake sluice, which is like a box with an inner wall with offset holes that have fans on them. Worst sentence of the day...

Point is, when I close the door, the exhaust (the Ruck inline fan) combined with the active intakes (same over-sized Zalman fans as on the hood) cause it to blow fresh air underneath my tubes, which even though the rez is there too, is quite a bit of open space. Because of the exhaust at the top, it can only can go one way, and that's up through the plants/canopy.

Simply put: my plants float in air allowing plenty of circulation and air/co2 from below rather than having to go horizontally like a wind on a field.

That all said, it's definitely not ideal, a little less would have been a little more. Only sort of speak though, as the nett result is more popcorn, but (in my limited experience) 'not' at the cost of the amount of quality buds. I had to veg longer than I wanted because of using Tiresias Mist but it's not nearly as full as last round or in my half-pipe scrog before that, so for me, this actually isn't that full at all :) If I grow plants 'normally', without major canopy control, I end up with less bud sites but 'fatter' buds, which in my climate and with my hobby-budget is a recipe for bud rot. Here's a thread of my previous harvest https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/670325-roots-first-hydroponic-harvest-2.html When I pulled out the first two plants I still had enough to fill the space with the remaining four. I could seriously fill the 3x4 space by vegging a single plant for about 5 weeks tops - but what's the fun in that :D

What's with all the wires I hear someone think, well:
- The two with isolation are to and from the chiller (can barely see the second)
- The one with isolation going upward is from the main water pump towards the main line with sprayers
- Two transparent are from the air pump (dual output) (pump is near those active intake fans so cool air is pumped in the rez)
- One electricity line for airpump
- One electricity line for chiller water pump
- One electricity line for main water pump
- One 12V line for another small Zalman fan.

Outside the picture is also a line for the PH probe and another one for temp. Soon a Hanna GroCheck ppm meter probe too...

I really like that setup. I also put my intakes in the raised floor so fresh air comes up from the bottom through the canopy. Your canopy shows how much she loves it. Thanks for sharing!

Couple of quick shots from the outside:
151.jpg150.jpg

That mailbox I added originally to peak inside without having to open the door when I was growing on soil. Came in handy (water can't go 'up' the electric wires...).

That other hatch I added for the LST-ing this round. Above it is the "softbox" as we call it, which contains the Ruck exhaust, softens the noise from it, hangs on rubbers to avoid vibration (neighbors...).

Below the metal plate is the outer half of the active intake sluice, which is during preveg connected (with one of the two vent) looped, to my preveg closet behind that small white door.

It's a little messier than usual because I added the chiller later on, behind that foam and wood cause it's noisy too.

I love how when we grow we find use for everything possible! When I go to a store I always looking at everything and figure how can I use that? lol, Good shit Sat

How do you attach the fans? I want to add an intake fan when I do some work on my tent after my grow is harvested. I'd been considering one of those inline booster fans from the hardware store, but PC fans would be a lot more compact.

They come with rubber pins to attach them. They cover a hole of the same diameter as the actual fan in the fan, so the corners of the fan overlap with the wall. 4 holes and pull pins through till the snap into place. The rubber also prevents it from making a lot of noise.

 I know exactly what you mean. I frequently got things in my hands in various stores that I would normally not consider buying yet somehow could be a nice addition to my grow room. We got this sort of $1 shop with stuff more than $1 too, 'Action' where I frequently buy dead cheap stuff I (think I) can use for my grow room. The rubber binding wire (12 yards for $1 opposed to $10+ at the local gardening store), aluminum duct tape for $1, draught-proofing strips to seal the closets, desk lamps for pollen shelter, water-weenies slices as neoprene inserts... :eyesmoke:

I can spend hours at a time in a Dollar Store, we have tons of Dollar stores in Cali. I am going to fish up some shots of my DNA Pure Afghan that I grew outdoors last year.

@Kroost: I got to add to my previous reply: I'm using those fans because I had them already. The exhaust in my first (smaller) closet was a DIY thing with multiple of those fans, it doesn't work as well because they don't create pressure, they are cooling fans instead. A cheap inline fan (like the plastic thingies for in bathrooms) will work better. Ideally your active intake should be about half the capacity of the exhaust, or a passive intake with twice the diameter of the exhaust. That's why I have one intake vent channel with fans and one without. My exhaust has a thermostat, meaning it blows faster once it goes over the temp I set it on (82f) which without the additional semi-passive (semi cause it's still in the same intake box with fans) intake would cause a storm in my closet. A simple 'trick' that's common on my side of the big pond is to open the closet door, hang a blanket in front of it, and then make the passive intake large enough, or the active intake strong enough (or a combi like I have) so that the blanket is only pulled "slightly" inside. Negative pressure, will keep the odor in the closet and only go out through my carbon filter. If it pulls to hard on the blanket, increase intake capacity or the fresh air will go the shortest path from intake to exhaust and not spread out properly.

Sat, these were my DNA Pure Afghan. Beautiful plants but lacked in the high department. I was really disappointed about these cause they smelled so good and looked good but when it came down to smoking them, I was hurt. lol These were clones that I threw outdoors.

I can almost smell them from the pics :eyesmoke: Thanks for sharing!

I might buy some Afghan soon just to bring back memories, but I don't think I will be growing it anytime soon. A pure indica... unlikely ;) I grow a little more than I actually need, so can either grow something more exclusive-yet-popular and... 'trade' a few ounces for more grow room upgrades, or, I can grow some real sativas and not care about yield (and then get disappointed by the yield and cross it with an indica  ). Not sure yet. Got a few weeks between this cycle and next one to rebuild the room so still some time to decide on what to grow next - the hardest part about growing mj.

Was thinking of going to North Korea and get some original seeds there but that only shows that highdeas aren't necessarily good ideas :dunce:

Let's start with the blurry one:

Kolossus still just doing her thing and will pull its weight at the end of the cycle.

SK2 (seems a little ahead, more swollen, some brown pistils, won't be a great yielder)

Following are from the SK1.

(HPS was on, white is from me holding a white led lamp - no flash...)

The SK1 is the one I misted and hopefully got from offspring from. Looking at the CF2 being the best out of the three CF, and the SK1 maybe going to end up fatter than the SK2 (or just needs to flower longer...), my initial pick to cross may turn out to be the best one after all.... except for that SKxCF2 pollination seems to be least successful

About 40 hours later things are starting to get more clear. As hard as it is to predict when they, individually, will be done, I need to keep a close eye on it because I need to manually lower the amount of nutes, i.e. top off with water only.

SK2. Clearly not going to be a great yielder. The pointy tip of the top itself is a give away as well.

SK1. Filled up and fattened a bit, and still white. These will get a rounder top because they will expand more horizontally.

Basically SK2 is not doing what SK1 is doing which is what H&G claims Topshooter/Shooting Powder does... but without the P&K overdose and killing leaves.

More SK1, notice at the top right some leaves from a bud just outside the pic, from SK2, some yellowing already, reaching its final stage. (and yes I need to push those 3 buds apart a bit :))

Weather is starting to be a pain in the ass to battle... will have to place back clip fan nr2 to prevent dew on leaves (got heat damage overnight) or worse... Sept/Oct are the worst months to harvest here as it's rainy and humid most of the time but not yet cold enough to turn on heating (which significantly lowers humidity inside).

Was in Amsterdam last night, tried Temple Balls from Stix (good), Maui Haze from Kadinsky ('ok'), Chocolope at Tweede Kamer (low smell and taste but best effect, turn head and vision is lagged behind), Red Cherry Berry (or something) at Barney's (tasty indica, not bad at all being the cheapest on their menu), and of course again the Bio Amnesia at the Jolly Joker (highly recommended :eyesmoke: )
