Seed Assasin

Ok so I got all my stuff some days ago!! Got my seeds, my gear, nutes, I was ready to grow my medicine.

3 Packs of Feminized Seeds:
Critical Jack heror
Critical Sensi Star
Northern Lights Blue
All from delicious seeds as they advertise for fast flowering

Along came 3 free seeds (thank you attitude) and I decided to germ one
DNA Hashplant Haze (70%) was chosen for being dominant sativa.. I wanted a constrast high from the indica.

Day one:
I put my seeds in water in a dark place for like 18 hours... they were no longer floating when I transfered them to a paper towel. I repeated to myself like a thousand times NLB on the Right and Hasplant on the Left,,, or wait is it the opposite? yep... I was so stoned and forgot...

Day two:
Seed#1 as I refer to it now, was more than ready to be transplanted to soil.. it already had little leafs and everyting. the other one had a tiny white root coming out so I let it sit on the towel paper.

Day three:
Seed#1 started to show good growth I was more than happy, seed#2 had grown its root like 1/2" maybe a little shorter.. I decided to move it to soil as I thought it would be more confortable there...!
Temp was between 25 - 30° C

Day four:
Seed one was doing wonderful... seed two...I don't know... I kinda thought that more time had passed... the thing is I started looking for signs of grow like a maniac, I found nothing not even the seed. I removed the whole mix from the pot and searched fist by fist looking for the seed or at least a root, only to remember that it didn't matter anymore because all that carving should've killed it already. I ran to my stash, took 2 more seeds, this time: Jack herer and another NLB just in case that was the seed that died. I didn't put them on water this time... I've read people claiming it wasn't necessary and I didn't want the new plants to get much behind the other one already growing.

Day five:
Seeds showed root faster.. they where like 1/4" each, so I put them very gently in soil that same day.

Day Six:
Seed#1 doing great, Seed#2 of course death and Seeds #3 and 4, weren't showing sings of growth yet..

Day seven:
No growth in 48 Hours so... OMG SOIL CARVING AGAIN!! this time I found my seeds... I released some of the guilt from my impatientness when I noticed the beans where exactly the same that when I transplanted them, they also looked awful, one was kinda black and the other one brownish... I took them out very carefully and put them in water PH'd to 6.5 in a dark place and let them sit the rest of the day.

Day eight:
Seeds 3 and 4 died on me, they kinda dumped this sort of white cream and I knew that was it so I tossed them out and put new seeds in water fearing that the only plant alive out of 4 really expensive seeds was actually the one that came free, why did I figured this? because seeds 2-3-4 died the same way but this time I know #3 and #4 are "Delicious" ones. I threw in another jack herer and a critical sensi star since I didn't want to waste another NLB (only 3 left) until I figure what's going on.

Day Nine: (Today)
Seed#1 is growing beautiful, seeds 5 and 6 are in the tower papel... Jack herer looks ready to transplant but I'm kinda of afraid of doing so before it shows some leafs. Sensi Star is barely starting to crack.. this time I PH'd water to 6.5 before it even touched the seed, I put them in water for 18 hours, and are curently siting in a warm dark place. Temp is around 26°C as for humidity they're in a plastic bag.

This are some pics of seed one what does it look like to you?

Well, after reading that.... you really are just an all around weed assassin.

Lesson 1 - PATIENCE, PATIENCE, PATIENCE!!
Lesson 2 - Once you start germinating a seed, leave it alone until it's ready to plant.
Lesson 3 - When growing multiple strains, be sure to physically mark the different strains.
Lesson 4 - Before a transplant of a seedling, be sure that there is a good root source.
Lesson 5 - Stop being so neurotic and ocd, lol... Just relax, smoke a bowl and think before you do something drastic that could kill your babies.

We learned quite a bit today from your little excursion. Now onto your question... No you nor anyone else can tell for sure what that little seedling is. You'll have to wait until atleast the 2nd or 3rd node before you get prominant enough leaves to be able to tell what strain it may be. Even then, with a hybrid you may not be able to be sure becuase the plant will carry both traits. You might even have to wait until it starts flowering and actually getting some larger buds, before you'll be able to compare pictures in order to really know. Sorry. By the way, those pics show the soil looking like mud. I'm not sure if it's the pics or if you just watered, or if you're overwatering. Be careful not to drown them.

Hi thanks for your reply, hopefully this new hobby should teach me patience, god knows I need some in my life. About the soil. First it looked really good, it was loose, and kept moisture very well. Now it's really compact and seems water saturated, apparently drainage is not working well... It could be because I didn't find perlite on my town so I used construction white rocks instead. In Addition, there's this green stuff growing on it, it's like some spots of dirt just turn into green, I try to remove it thinking it must be because of the humidity.. 80-90% all the time where I live.
My Soil mix consist of:
60% Potting Soil
10% White Sand
15% White Rocks
15% Worm Castings

if I may ask.. how do you know it's right for a seed to be moved from the paper towel to the ground?, and how much time does the seed generally need to overcome the stress and start growing again? the weird thing is I tested everything first with free beans that came in some street weed I bought. I did really nasty things to those plants just to see what they could handle, and although some of them looked sick the all grew and were ready to veg. This are the first seeds I've killed since I started, I manage to germinate around 20 seeds before with success.

So I transplanted my jack herer before I went to bed I was really gentile while doing so, it's now on a plastic cup filled with dirt. It's been barely 12 hours so I'll just forget about it until at least 2 days had passed. Here are some pics

I agree. Too wet, too much humidity for a seedling, and maybe too cold as well - I'm not great with celsius. You're drowning your seeds, that's what's happening. Rotting them.
You need a new soil mix (including perlite) for drainage, and oxygen to the roots. Those plants will not make it to the finish line in that soil. Do not add things to your soil from outside - you're bound to bring things you don't want as well, such as pests.

OMG but I cant find perlite anywhere in my city.... could I use Hydrotón as a substitute? they also sell some sort of wood chips advertised to do the same.

25°C is 77°F is it too cold? I read that was the ideal temp, ambient temp is around 90°F in my city and humidity is always very high. Tropical weather. I'll try some stuff to see if I can get it down to at least 60%.

The plants currently growing are meant to be motherplants, are you absolutely positive I should transplant them asap?

Whoa whoa, hold on there killer. 25.9 C is 78.6 F so don't do anything to your temps. That is perfect. However, DoeEyed was right, just as I thought too. Your overwatering and drowning/rotting your seeds along with your plant. I wouldn't waste my time on the soil bro. If you can't find what you need in your town, then just order it offline. I suggest some Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil. Then what you need to do is get yourself a pot that has drain holes in the bottom. Then you really only need to water like every 3 - 5 days. With good pH water in the realm of like 6.2 - 6.5pH

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply. I'm certainly buying it right now but it'd take at least 3 weeks to get here... in 3 weeks I should be taking clones off seedling one... or that's the plan. I know you want to make it simple to me and I should've done myself that favor by buying the freaking soil in the first place!!! It's just my tests went so great using even worse soil... I need to find a solution asap with what I have at hand, until the fox farm gets here.

Did you already order the new soil? If not, I would pay a little more to have it there sooner. If so, then we have to come up with a temporary solution until you can transplant to the new soil. I definitely wouldn't water her for a couple of days, that's for sure. I also wouldn't try to germinate any new seeds I guess that's the only thing you can really do until the new soil get's there.

Jack herer GROWING!!!!!! I saw a lil white stem going out to surface today... I expect she's ready to show some leafs tomorrow!... Critical Sensi Star needs another day until transplanted to soil.. Humidity drop really really improved thigns

haha yeah seedkiller84 since today!! I wont touch any more seeds before the new soil gets here I promise. BTW seddling 1 is growing quite fast, and critical jack seems to be starting to kick off. I hope they can make it safe till maturity if I don't get the soil in time....

Do you not have a hardware store anywhere near you. Even Wal-mart and most other retailers that offer any type of gardening products will have the miracle grow perlite. That soil looks way to compacted and way to wet, as others have already said. Also have you tried to locate some vermiculite. The mixture that I am using right now is 2 parts soil, 1 part vermiculite, 1 part perlite and seems to work really well thus far.

Apparently there's a nute store down the block maybe the could tell me where to find perlite or the other one, that's my only hope actually. Btw, I'm afraid the closest walmart is like 3 hours by plain lol and I really hate customs. I did visit several hardware and gardening local stores with no luck, picture this up:
Excuse me sir, do you have "perlita"(don't know the spanish translation)? it's like this little white stones used for soil drainage... They all gave me a wtf face sewering by jesuschrist not such thing existed!!, but not to worry coz actually they offer - what I call a really filthy imitation of Hydroton - that does exactly the same of my made up stone.

I was like ok what the heck those stones look just like it give me a pack...

Update on the girls, they are growing excellent, look what 2 days did to seedling one, you can see pics from 2 days before in older post:



Can you notice a little yellowish tone in some leafs? Is that an indication to start fertilizing?, I bought a "foliar fertilizer" I mixed it yesterday with water and added 150 ppm of nutes, she took them very well. I don't know but isn't it too soon for her to start asking for food?

If you said that the JH took 150ppm of nutes, well, then I wouldn't up the nutes just yet. Not to mention that foliar spray isn't going to give them the nutes they are going to need anyway. Just keep doing what you're doing and in a week they'll be ready to start taking like 300 - 400ppm of nutes. Again though, don't use the foliar spray to water your soil. You should be fine otherwise.

I only sprayed seedling one which I'm almost sure is NLB because of the similitude with the flowered plant IDK. no nutes for the others yet, I have GH flora an MICRO do you think it's time to start with seedling 1?

Hi, I wonder how much do you think I should add to Foliar Spray in PPM do you use this kind of sprayers or do you just fertilize directly to soil?... Also I'm getting from your Signature that maybe the yellowing I'm seing is because of too much light, I'm 24/0 now and was planning to switch to 18/6 once the other seedlings were established, has it worked for you? do you get shinny leafs this way?

Damn, are you stoned, lmfao... my signature was from a post that you made on your first page. I thought it was funny and entertaining so I used it as my signature.

Keep your light at 24/7 until you flower. I'm having this debate with someone else right now. If you are already running 24/7 light, leave it there.

Your nitrogen deficiency was causing the yellowing of the leaves, not the lighting. You can't have TOO MUCH light. Only too much heat.

I don't know really know much about soil because I'm a hydro guy myself. I haven't grown in soil in almost 10 years. I suggest only using the foliar spray with up to 300ppm of nutes. Then use the Fox Farm soil you ordered, with some nutrient additives to supplement the rest of the need nutrients.
