Seed Production. A Tutorial

Yah, make sure you give them a bit of time to finish or the seeds will take longer than the buds!! I had done this with my last three plants and it seems almost like the plant's progress stalls a bit while producing the seeds. I just did it again to another plant, but that girl has like 5wks flowering left so I'm not too concerned.

Another thing that I did that seemed to work, I pollinated a small bud a few weeks before harvest. Harvest time came, but the seeds weren't done yet.. I snipped off that branch, and stuck it in a cup of water on my desk. Left it there for about 2-3 more weeks.. Bud and leaves stayed green, and the seeds kept getting plumper! Ended up harvesting 8 seeds out of that small bud on my desk :) Haven't tried germ'ing any yet - but they are all fat and brown/black striped so they look OK.

In the same respect, if you don't want to affect your whole plant, take a clipping off the plant, root it, and pollinate that.. Just having a small bud of beans growing seperately. I've done that on a couple occasions too.. Then you pull the seeds when they're ready, and you can put the plant back into veg and start over again.

There's a few options!! Good luck!

What do I want to look for mainly for a male? And female?
Im guessing,
Male:Stem structure & node spacing
Female:Same as male, but also Bud to leaf ratio.I know it was probly answered already, but i relly dont have time to go through 65 pages to find a answer to 1 question.Sry if its a repeat q.I read the first page of course. But I didn't find what exactly to look for on the female.

I have a strawberry cough in the 6th week of 12/12 and am waiting for a kushberry male to be ripe enough to take some sdeeds, they are developed and hanging down. What is the latest you can polleniate and still get good quality seeds?

you can pollinate as long as you still have white hairs. you may have to wait for the seeds to ripen though. sounds like a good cross.

I am pollinating one of the smaller main branches and hoping for a few dozen seeds. I collected the pollen sacs this morning and was very surprised that some were open over night, not really worried because they are in different houses. I am hoping to have a good cross with the two parents producing a tasty and strong set of children. But all I can do is make seeds and grow them out to see what happens.
This is a great thread thanks for your information!!

Thanks for the tutorial Fdd, just took all the seed pods off my male.

Question, so what defines a strain as yours, earlier in the thread i read something about stability.

I have a bag seed male that i just collected the pods from, it grew very vigor and resiliance, it was also super bushy, def thought it was gonna be female, any ways since we found out it was a male we have just dubbed him Robert Plant.

I have a female lemon skunk from DNA 3 days into flower, it has grown fast, almost twice the size of the other two females.

Question i have is, After i pollinate the lemon skunk with the robert plant, Is that my own created strain?

What do i have to do to make it mine?

Make some RPS, Robert Plant Skunk.

I have a strawberry cough crossing with a kushberry male and when the seeds come they get a new name that I make. So to answer your question Name away. Just google or do some research to make sure it hasnt been crossed yet.

Alright thats what i thought but i was unsure, im def gonna make some RPS then.

Hows that kushberry comin along?

I dont know if it took or not, I have one branch that had the pistils turn overnight to redish but the trichs are still clear60% to 40% milky so I know its close.
But the one that had the pistils turn back down to the bud isnt as far as the others and stil has all clear trichs, so I am hoping for at least that one bud site to throw out a few seeds.

I have a sleestack that is in the 2nd week of 12/12 and showing her pistils, so with Fdd's tutorial I am going to see how the process works first hand and seed it with the kushberry and see what happens. Really the strawberry cough will be enough for me and friends for the rest of the winter, the other plants are just to fuck with and see what happens.

within the next day or so the hairs that were pollinated will die. they dry up and turn brown. this is a good sign that it took. now we wait. seed production takes quite some time. indoors i will seed about the second to third week of flower. the seeds will be done by harvest. i like to wait until i see the skin of the seed pod start to peel back and the exposed seed poking out. premature seeds are no good. the longer i wait the better. it does not hurt to let them go until they fall off on there own. i can shake a branch and seeds will litter down.

How Long does it take for the seeds to mature in the Calyx?

I have seeds inside my calyx it has almost been three weeks since I pollinated them and my female is almost ready to be harvested?

I am wondering how long I should let her go and if the the seeds will mature during my curing process.

I am more concerned with more seeds. than the bud.

fdd..says to let them fall out of the calyx when they are ready, immature seeds are useless.
I understand the problem but you have to ask yourself whats more important, the seeds or weed?
