Seed soak solution?

Straight to soil. If they're older seeds sometimes I might soak them in a shot glass of tap water for a few hours. I don't like fiddling around unnecessarily with stuff. I get damn near 100% germination. Those that don't germinate weren't viable seeds to begin with and no amount of paper towels, holy water, voodoo dances, etc... is going to get them to pop.

It's a seed. Plant it.

only cuz I respect you brotha
Much love tho! Fr

shot glass of water for 24hrs, then move to a wetted paper towel fold paper towel then in a CD case for another 24hr......germ....

that how i do it, works every time
I like that cd case idea! That’s a new one

My solution is not to soak them at all, but to actually plant the seed.
A fucking Men!

What ever are people doing with soak this, paper towel that, heated mat at X Celsius, dome, no dome, wait for tap root.

If you want to soak your seeds then just water or a weak mix of H2o2 for just a few hours.

Then just plant the fucking seed and light it up with a small cfl or T5 ffs.

I’m a sucker for this kinda shit tho lol I’m into all that knf organics nonsense - Nothing more natural than nothing but water tho lol
KNF rocks. No nonsense there.

I haven't made or used SES. I practice KNF and JADAM methods in my vegetable garden and the results have been better than when I was using commercial products like most people.

I love people's desire to add a handful of steps to a single step process. Especially fiddly ones where you can damage delicate new-grown plant tissues.

It’s like with clones too.

just cut and plant into your choice of medium.

these were cut and rooted in coco and then cut again as I didn’t need them yet and then planted into root riots to reroot

no clone hormones, nothing special at all just cut and plant.

My favorite seed soak is diluted h202, there are quite a few studies on the topic, but the short version is it helps break down the seed coat and acts as a signaling molecule to prime the seed for germination leading to increased germination rates and greater seedling vigor. It also kills the bacteria the seed may have picked up on its journey. Makes a huge difference in older seeds, but fresh seed stock doesn't need any soak. Couple articles https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpls.2016.00066/full https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3405688/
What ratio of peroxide do you use to make the solution? I have some older seeds I want to do a soak with later on this season but can never find a consistent answer for proper ratio. Thanks

Just pop your seeds how you've always done, no point in changing what has always worked for you in the past.

I personally soak overnight in water with a little h2o2, then damp paper towel for another 24 hours. Just a quicker way for me to visualize that the seeds I am sprouting are viable.

Welp I ended up going with a couple drops of h202, and a super small amount of an FPE I made - overnight soak and they all cracked.

This would have surely happened with just pure water lol

I appreciate everyone’s input here - at the end of the day I love the perspectives I get from y’all, keeps me grounded.

To 1ltr of water I add 2ml H202 and 1ml of nitrozyme then let them soak until there's a tap root, it's usually 12/18rs but not always.

At £50/100 I'm giving the best start possible, you might not want to that's your choice but let's not start with I don't so you shouldn't.

I think the biggest thing with any of the aspects to growing is finding what works best for you.

I personally ditched clonex/hormones for rooting long ago.

my clones get a weak nutrient solution for their medium of around 0.6EC.

no root stimulants at all.

I think for anyone starting out with seed starting or cloning they should try the simplest methods first.

I agree with the sentiment of this statement but this part "I'm giving the best start possible" is where it gets more complicated. Everyone believes that using their preferred method is giving the best start possible, why else would they do it that way. I believe that by planting directly into soil there is less risk of damaging root development.

When you say "I'm giving the best start possible" you are effectively saying "I don't so you shouldn't", and I'm fine with that, I disagree but I appreceate that folks are invested in helping others enough to share what they believe is the best method.

Of course it's doubtfull that we're both right, but I think everyone should do what works best for them, and respectful debate on what is the most effective way to germinate is beneficial to the community.

I don't think one is right and the other wrong they both work.
Some see it as a single step process others don't.
